At that time, you showed some basic positions from this system. If I remember correctly, you were working on some modifications to counter the things that were being shown in NHB competition. It seems like you've been very busy, but have you tinkered with the Buno at all, or used it against other popular submission >>styles? >>Kevin Black Kevin, I put all together a good amount of Pre-arragne exercise to escape and counter all possible hold, controls, Locks that other Ground fighter might used, in actual combat. I tried and test all of this against some of my Senior students, in Buno. Remember, all of my student is mixed with variety of fighter, most of them hold high ranking in different descipline, like Karate, Kung-fu, Judo, Jujitsu, American and Greco Roman Wrestling. I succesfully applied all of this proven techniques, against them. We also introduced the LEO training program called "CARE" or "Cautioned Response" Training Program based on the core curriculum of "Harimaw Buno" designed for LEO. Mu hope someday, we can hold a "Harimw Buno Compettion" to compete to other ground fighting arts tournaments, or work side by side with them. Anyway, we are now in full speed, to promoted this art to the maximum level. We are encouraging other grappling arts to see the benefits that they can learn, that Harimw Buno can offers. I'm not sure for how long though. Howard Wilson http://w3.one.net/~howard From: Ray Terry Date: Fri, 12 Oct 2001 19:21:59 PDT Subject: eskrima: FMA to kids? I'm curious... How many of you teach kids (say under 13) eskrima, sticks and blade stuff? Or are in a school in which that occurs? I've seen a ton of kids in Judo or Taekwondo or Karate-ish or Kung-fu schools, but not many in FMA schools. I suspect that I know why that is, but what is your experience? Do you have kids in your school? That news source is new to me, just stumbled into it while hopping around through news links. It was general knowledge, however, that Russia and China had recently agreed to cooperate to counter the growth of United States power (i.e., per "standard" news channels like CBS/NBC/etc.). I would not be surprised if China has had some eyebrow-raising contemplations re: the recent U.S./Russian cooperation, including the links made btwn terrorism, Afghanistan, and Chechnya. Tactical nukes around Afghanistan and Chechny? Who knows ... we don't learn half of what actually goes on do we? "Truth is stranger than fiction." I may ask around about the reliability of the source ... I think I found it via the ConservativeHQ (no reflection on the ConservativeHQ, just part of the route which led me to that link I think). Is this against 'finishing moves'? One thing Carley Gracie once said during a class that made good sense, 'they call them finishing moves for a reason'. i.e. once they are well sunk-in there is little to no countering. Yes?
