Harley runs wild pig hunts where the hunters run down a pig with dogs, and then jump in and kill the pig with bowie knives, mano-y-babui so to speak. According to Harley, at least as far as pigs go, the suction notion is not factual. I think this was backed up by some actual combat experience by bladesmith Dr. Jim Hrisoulas as well. Bowie was reportedly a large dude for his time, and I think the idea of this was to eliminate his size advantage. I don't think it worked. I would think that in that situation, any notion of rules would be pretty much out the window. I would be looking for any and every opportunity to cheat.
