I had already seen the web page but thought I would re-read it again just in case I missed anything. In the photo section, Emiliano Zapata is supposed to have retired after fighting in the World Muay Thai Championships and a superfight against a grapppler. Does anyone know of the outcome? _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? However, I would have thought that the existing laws are about as stringent as you can get - basically, as I understand it, it can be illegal to carry any bladed weapon (be it Spyderco Ladybug, Leatherman or Trail Master Bowie) if a police officer deems it to be an offensive weapon. My two cents are that they are to add strength to the blade. Here is another question. For those of you familiar with the kukri knife (spelling), what is the "female notch" for at the base of the blade next to the handle? My own theory is that besides mystical reasons that it serves as a shock absorber. Since this is a chopping weapon, it transfers a lot of shock to the handle/hand. With the knotch the way it is, I believe that it allows certain vibrations and shock from impact to dissipate without all the shock being transfered to the handle and to the hand. Anyway, that is my theory. What is the real reason for the knotch? On saturday we did lot's of empty hands stuff. Since this was supposed to be a knife seminar, most people had big question marks in their eyes. I was the only eskrima guy, so I knew where Marc was going. Others were Vin Chun, Hapkido, Ninjitsu, Aikido. There was one guy with a 'Taser Team' tshirt, wonder what their training is like :). We then had a nice evening at a thai restaurant where Marc could study the many variations of German beer:) Sunday we were allowed to play with our rubber knives, and now everybody figured out what we had been doing the last day. Most important for me was the wisdom between the lines, those short hint's about how to avoid suicide which stem from Marc's personal experience. It was really nice to meet him. I can really reccommend seeing him especially to those who already know it all. Also thanks to Holger for managing this event.
