I personally think that creates a false sense of bravery and accomplishment in the student. When using pads one will tend to take a blow that should have been blocked or avoided.the pad dulls the pain of the blow and the student gets careless because he/she is not injured by the strike. No I do not advocate full contact in class, save that for the street. I do think that flow drills, and light body contact should be practiced with control. Would it help protect the school from liability if the higher ranks started their own full contact sparing club and rented time from the school for their activities?
