A student recently asked me a question that initially frustrated me do to the numerous possible answers. Now I consider this question a gift beyond measure as it brought me that much closer to my teacher. He asked me what I thought the most important lesson our Grandmaster (Suro Mike Inay) ever taught me was. We were having dinner and after that question I don't think I took another bite. Though I'm not certain I yet have the "one" answer for myself or for my student, I do know that the question brought back many memories of Suro as he taught me so many things - most of which were way beyond the usual classroom stuff. For that, I am in debt to this student (once again). I suppose if I had to answer right now I would say that the one most important lesson he shared would be to understand respect and to respect all others for what they are and for what they have to offer. In doing this (he told me) I would learn to respect myself as I learned what my worth was. Anyway, I rarely post questions here but this one did so much for me I thought some of you might benefit as well. So to repeat my students curiosity - What is the most important thing your Instructor ever taught you? Have fun remembering back... - -- Steve Klement Inayan Masirib Guro www.inayaneskrima.com klement@inayaneskrima.com Inayan Systems International ------------------------------ From: "johnaleen" Date: Sat, 12 Jan 2002 01:05:12 -0500 Subject: eskrima: Re: Inayan_Eskrima/FMA-Digest V9 #12 Interesting Articles for Jan 11th, 2002 wile reading tonight i came across this, interesting...
