I have a number of the CRKT Blades.. I have a toss up on which one to carry, I like the Kaspar/Crawford Folder with the non serrated blade and the Kit Carson M-16-14 with the 50/50 blade for my serrated version.. For my fixed blade, I had to get the crkt Kaspar/Polowski Companion.. It comes with two sheaths that can be used as a neck knife, or a multi carry sheath.. It allows for either a vertical draw or horizontal carry, and can also be set up for drawing in the Pakal grip or Sak Sak. The company 1stopknifeshop.com does a good deal for their lines on crkt and the turn around is real quick.. Plus they are about 70% of the retail listed price... Spark/Kevin is good people to deal with as he owns the company... Letha Yoga sounds like it could be very beneficial to a martial artist. As I creep past 30 I'm starting to appreciate the necessity of a good stretching plan. Unfortunately due to the likes of Gerry Halliwell and others all of my local Yoga classes are not only over-subscribed but also over-priced. Thanks for the tip on Thai massage. I was lucky enough to visit Thailand again last year and visit some traditional therapy centres (not Pat Pong Road before anyone asks). I found the assisted massage really painful for the first couple of days but returned home feeling the loosest I've been in years. My martial arts improved as a direct result which was lucky as it coincided with a grading. Unfortunately the months stuck behind a computer terminal since and not taking time to loosen up properly have left me back at square one. If anyone here's anything about Dr Gyi's book or perhaps if he plans to hold seminars in the UK I'd be grateful for a head's up. Also if anyone happens to have got a digital camera for Xmas and fancies educating the rest of us...!? Best wishes Jamie - ------------------------------ From: Andrew R Breton Date: Tue, 15 Jan 2002 22:04:46 -0600 Subject: eskrima: Re: Inayan_Eskrima/FMA-Digest V9 #16 Jamie, Letha yoga is using a partner to help you stretch. In the seminar I went to, the stretches emphasized stretches based more on neck, arm and leg positions and manipulations than what you think of yoga stretches (plough, lotus etc.). However, your back/core still get stretched very well. If you've done martial arts stretches with a partner, think of taking that to the Nth degree. I remember thinking that it was a waste of time to spend a day of a seminar doing stretches (after all, I can do that at home). As it turns out, it was one of the best workouts I've had. You're sore, but you feel good. Dr. Gyi is also a very good instructor - both in Letha Yoga and Bando. Dr. Gyi said he was going to write the book on Letha yoga - he didn't give me a timeline. The closest thing you may come to it is a book on Thai massage. I'm thinking of the "Thai Massage Manual" by Maria Mercati. That book has stretches reminescent of what we did. Intersting story: when I first saw the flier for his trip to Tulsa, I thought it said "LETHAL yoga". I didn't know exactly what to expect. They were bred from dogs used by Africans to fight lions. Lion fighting is their specific claim to fame. - -- __________________________________________________________________ Your favorite stores, helpful shopping tools and great gift ideas. Just kidding. If the mountain lion is far enough away (+20 yards), try standing still and usually they move on. If it gets too close, make yourself as big as possible and start making deep, loud noises. Remember that you're just as much of an animal (and threat) as they are. I used to live in a house that would be frequented by mountain lions... They were always eating our animals until we took a stand (started throwing eggs at them).

But thought others might be interested... Ray Forwarded message: Selamat All, Well, it appears that Mike Janich and Joe Simonet are continuing their successful collaboration in producing and selling "Serak" videos. When the first one came out I thought maybe Paladin coaxed Joe into allowing a slight "oversight" that he is in fact a Tongkat Guru, (a great accomplishment for sure, and a helluva fighter) to capitalize on the merchandising value of the name of "Serak". Janich's letter to Inside Kung Fu (Dec 2001?) clearly showed that the misrepresentation was deliberate, and in fact was a sign of more to come. Then the Slam Set article in IKF (Feb 2002), written by Janich. Joe's Serak book is supposedly finished as of Dec. 31, as per his website. And now, slated for March 1 release according to his website, is a 2 video set covering the remaining 18 Serak djurus "and much more". It's pretty clear in hindsight that Janich wrote the letter to pave the way for this new video. I wish to respectfully pose a question to members of this list. For those who are Tjabang members, or other Serak students, does it matter at all to you personally that Joe is doing this? Do his actions enhance the value of what we have invested in, or diminish that value, or neither? Why or why not? And for the general public or who visit this board, although this may not affect you personally in this case, what are your thoughts?
