O.K...to a lesser degree...how about when you are face to face fake talking to your 8 yearold friend, your buddy got down on all fours behind your friend and you pushed your friend from the front and your friend flies backward into a hump of flailing flesh? You used no energy to commit this act. He never saw it coming. This is the essence of pentjak silat... Regards, Carlton H. Fung, D.D.S. It's still a skeleton, but as material gets updated and removed from the old bukti site www.cs.pdx.edu/~tellner/bukti.html it will start to be more interesting. Apparently the connective tissue is breaking down around his spine. He is also having seizures, and sometimes unable to walk or speak. He has been transferred to three different hospitals. The source of the malady is unknown according to his students and training buddies at the Tool and Die Shop. I will get an address to send cards to or be supportive. Tony lives in Chicago. I have never met him, but found his tapes and online manners to be incredible. Lets support someone who gives freely of his knowledge. I also hope I didn't come across as speaking against the freedom of expression we enjoy in places such as this forum. I have enjoyed the dialog that occurs on the Eskrima-Digest and have learned much from it over the years. I haven't had a lot of personnel problems to deal with directly but I have seen my teachers get bogged down, sometimes to the point of being overwhelmed and saddened, by issues like this. So I'll be the first to admit that it gets under my skin when I see people being disrespectful to their teachers. To me 'respects for the teacher' grows out of the principle of 'honor thy mother and father'. >Thank God for the United States, freedom of speech. Some good and some not so >good. Does our US of A, the greatest country as of today, my opinion of >course. I am aware of some of the trials that you and your family suffered during World War II and after independence. These are hardships that most of us have never seen and, hopefully, will never see. Perhaps it can be a lesson for me that the people who love freedom most are the ones that have paid a dear price for it. I honor you for that. In my teaching, I try to stress the responsibilities that go along with such freedoms. Hopefully the message sinks in. >If it is the truth, it can fall and expose like a reckon ball on those who >embellish and Lie. Yes, indeed. And I believe this issue was discussed well on this forum. --__--__-- Message: 5 From: Kes41355@aol.com Date: Sat, 26 Jan 2002 18:40:37 EST To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Subject: [Eskrima] Re: Silat tapes Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net In a message dated 1/26/02 5:02:21 AM Eastern Standard Time, eskrima-request@martialartsresource.net writes: << Hope this explains my position a little better. And don't worry about pissing me off for disagreeing with me. That keeps me thinking. Marc MacYoung >> Hi Mac, Thanks for not taking offense...I meant none, but sometimes in martial arts circles it is hard to ask a question, or for clarification, without drawing wrath. My respect for you has increased tenfold, sir, for your ability to take the post in the spirit it was intended, and for offering clarification. I could probably have done without making the comment that I didn't recommend Mr. Plinck's tapes to any serious martial artists, and for that I apologize. You can ask my friend and teacher, Rob McDonald, (he will certainly concur with me on this), I have a bad habit of frequently spouting off without thinking; how Rob has put up with my mouth over the years, I don't know...he has infinite patience. Anyway, thank you again, Mac, for clearing that up for me, and this sounds like something I need to investigate much more thoroughly before passing judgment.
