Are we talking about two (or more) different types of inside sweep? I've made it work and seen it work a great many times, as others have indicated. Long heavy baston against short light, full power extended strikes, full power strikes pulled short, full power PR-24 strikes, steep angle, flat, blade, etc... So are we talking about different inside sweeps or is it just a matter of someone (and, yes, it could be me) needing to "eat more rice"? Jeff mentioned that he was talking about a medium range inside sweep. I'm more familiar with a close range inside sweep. Is that the primary diff? I would agree that your typical close range inside sweep would not be too effective in mid range and not sure I would even attempt it. I learned to appreciate combat-effective drills by training with you. The same things being said here about inside sweeps could be said about a lot of other typical training techniques, as well, and it seems to me that the difference is in the assumption of a "cooperative" opponent. Also the cover will be dual. Just waiting for the other side to be sent so I can get it on the site.. I do not understand and talked to the editor. But the man of the year is Max Pallens And the Woman of the year is AMBER 'APACHE' DELUCA, seems they got the most votes. What happened to the Filipino martial artists? The Instructors that are talked about so much on the digest? The form is up for nomination for 2002. You can submit and it is auto sent by email, or print and mail. Also a reason it has taken so long in getting something in print for the magazine is no pictures. So if you nominate someone and have a picture of them please click the regular email button and attach it and send. So it will not take so long to get the magazine together. I believe the two are very different in how they should be trained and applied 1)awareness and reaction time are different in a self-defense situation 2)you are probably not going to have the wife and kids with you when you are fighting 3)the end result may be different, escape and safety as quickly as possible in a self defense situation, incapacitation of your opponent in a fight. While the two certainly cross over, I think the training should reflect the situation.
