Personally, he is very skilled, and very approachable. _________________________________________________________________ Join the world’s largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com --__--__-- Message: 2 From: "Stephen Lamade" To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Date: Tue, 19 Feb 2002 04:45:50 Subject: [Eskrima] Rationale for Military Stance Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net As I understand it, one technique involves a palm-heel to the face, or something similar, like swinging the edge of the hand under the nose, of an unarmed opponent, the better to distract him - and then thrusting to the mid-section with the rear-hand knife. The lead hand is therefore a shield, an attacking weapon, and a bridge to the attack with the knife. Knife to knife techniques as taught in this era were usually lead-hand to lead-hand based. Your comment seems to be directed to the inquiry made on Master Rey Galang. Our responses were honest and sincere replies to an inquiry made on our instructor. If anything, we provided some education, showed our loyalty and proclaimed camaraderie between other instructors, styles & organizations which is something Bakbakan International fosters. If you don't like what your reading then simply ignore it rather than make ignorant comments. Look forward to your response. Yours in the Arts, Guro John G. I am finishing the section on the Filipino martial arts this week. I have always known that the FMA was hugely diverse, but over the past 25 years it has grown, and very affluently as teachers evolved their systems, there are now over 100 different recognized systems and sub styles in the FMA... what I would like now though and why I am posting this letter, is if any of you have a system or know of one that is not on the list below to help me add to it… I would like to make this list as complete as possible, I have a week before this section has to be to my editor, so please if you have any additions I would highly appreciate everyones help… please feel free to email any additions and sugestions for this list to my new private email account at johnaleen@hotmail.com or Ms-J@f-a-t-e.org Thank you, Ms. J… bows deeply ps if i have spelled something incorrectly, please let me know but, try and be nice i would never spell something incorrect on purpose...... He and Grand Tuhon Gaje are not in any way on friendly terms. He is a very skilled practitioner and trains the ROTC marines in the Philippines. A few years ago he toured the USA, and I was able to attend his seminar up here in Mass. One thing I found very enjoyable was that he took the time to train with every person in attendance constantly. The man never stopped! I hope some of you local practitioners can attend the Sayoc Kali seminar we are hosting at our school in Manchester NH. The details follow: Sayoc Kali Seminar Announcement Tuhon Christopher Sayoc, the head of the Sayoc Kali organization, will be at the Bujinkan Dojo, Manchester, NH on March 2nd and 3rd.
