The weekend was simply spectacular. So many great instructors-the biggest problem was deciding which workshop to attend. The choices were "fantastic" "excellent" and "even better"! It was great to train with the best of the best...all under one roof. It really made me appreciate the diversity and quality of the phillipine martial arts. So much to learn.....so little time! The energy and spirt of the event was awesome. Five of us from Frankfurt did the Modern Arnis demonstration and it was really something to appear on stage in front of hundreds and hundreds of FMA "experts" and grandmasters!! Pure Adrenaline!! The Festival was a huge success! I sincerely hope we can convince Dieter and Alfred Plath to make it an annual event. It would be worth a trip to Germany...... Many many thanks to the organisers! Pak will be teaching several phases from his lineage of Pentjak Silat Serak on March 23rd from 10-6 at Asian Arts 2000. This school located at 770 Broadway (Rt 138) in Raynham MA across from the Milk Bottle resaurant. Raynham is about 60 miles SW of Boston. Please bring comfortable workout clothes, training knife, sticks and safety equiptment. The cost is $100. Last years seminar, although small, was a great deal of fun and we covered all of phase one of PS Serak. Expect to learn a number of empty hand, stick and knife Jurus and their applications. Don't miss this unique art as presented by one of the pioneers of Silat in America. I must admit some surprise to seeing so many Filipino martial arts practitioners getting together in one place without too much bickering. I'm impressed. I have observed this phenomenon in other places, especially where FMA is scarce. One suggestion: With so many FMA guys in one place it would be great fun to organize a full-scale battle, perhaps historical in origin. We did this with Krabi-Krabong at the Muay Thai camp a few years ago when Col. Nattapong was over from Thailand, and it was great fun. The adrenaline rush of 100+ people rushing & screaming into battle is quite something to see. Congratulations Masirib Guro Steve Klement. What I like most about the article was the generalness of the article. In other words any member here could use this article and say this is what I do. Guro Klement, this might be a good springboard for the Inayan School of Eskrima TV exposure, have your agent issue a press release to the local TV stations with the article in it.
