The thing is it sounds like a walk in the park until one, itsy bitsy little clause that will torpedo about 99% of all claims of self-defense. I won't tell you what it is, but I'll throw it out to the list and see who can tell me what it is and how a stroke of the pen it will totally undermine your self-defense claim. Now the scary thing is, that stroke of the pen will happen when you are looking at the police, hyped up from just having carved someone and when they are asking witnesses/survivors what happened. Bottomline, your chances of being charged with attemped murder are largely dependant on how the officer writes up the report....anybody here think he is going to be really coherent after slicing another human being? Which, you know, with this booby trap clause sitting there waiting I'm not sure that you can stress enough to students how much they DON'T want to use their training. Especially since most of the knifings I have seen, encountered, heard about fell under that booby trap clause I was talking about anyway. --__--__-- Message: 2 From: "bbsb" To: Date: Thu, 14 Mar 2002 19:36:26 -0500 Subject: [Eskrima] "How To Use The Yawara Stick" video Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Has anybody purchased or viewed the video "How To Use the Yawara Stick" from Yawara.com? It's almost $70, but which seems a bit steep. Thanks. Are there any legal implications to having a martial arts instructor teach the legalities, rather than an attorney? Perhaps some unauthorized practice of law complications? Are there attorneys who specialize in this area, giving lectures and so forth? Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Greetings Everyone; Sorry for being a bit off topic here but I just have to ask: I have a list of Inside Kung Fu Magazines that I'm looking for, by month/year and additional description. Does anyone know a good source of back issues for these mags. I even want to go as far back as the 80's. I spoke with the publisher, but they don't have anything pre 2002. Thanx, J. Yahoo! Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Greetings; This might be a question for someone like Guro Marc Denny (I assume I can refere to him as Guro?) For anyone who's been exposed to the "Python" sub-system of Bando/Naban, be it through the Dog Brothers or from Dr. Gyi directly...what comparisons/contrasts can you make with other grappling arts such as jiu-jitsu, wrestling, sambo and etc? By the way, I recently met Bud Thompson from the Kali Academy, and got a brief moment to watch him during instruction...the man's awesome!! J. Yahoo!
