My son requires reconstructive surgery for his medical condition(bladder exstrophy, in case anyone is familiar with the condition). While any FMA training for me will be the furthest thing from my mind, I may be looking for a chance to go to a club for an odd evening, or even a seminar, depending on the date, duration, etc. My priority will be his care and recovery. However once he gets released and treated on as an outpatient, a few hours of training as a stress reliever would be most appreciated. If anyone can reccomend a seminar, or a FMA or BJJ or JKD club, it would be most appreciated.

I saw a news story on practitioners of Krav Maga. I believe the individuals I saw on the show were Darren Levine and his wife. I was extremely impressed, not so much with Mr. Levine (who was VERY skillful) but moreso with his wife who is a petite and delicate-looking woman. She is an animal (that's a compliment). Her style is not for the faint-hearted. I once saw an ex-Marine Security consultant (Kelly MCcain) on TV doing offensive hand-to-hand combat. Mrs. Levine fights as viciously as Mr. MCcain. Elbows, knees, screaming and yelling, pulling hair and just all-around forcing her will on some poor idiot who thought she'd be a good victim. She fights like its life or death in the dojo. Expending that much energy is emotionally draining not to mention physically exhausting but apparently Krav Maga practitioners include that kind of mindset in their training and are quite conditioned for the intensity. They are very offense-minded. I dont see this as a health-club type environment. I went off on a tangent here but what I really wanted to say was that I think Krav Maga is an excellent art/style. However, on the other hand, I have heard the analysis from more than one reliable source that Krav Maga teaches knife techniques that most FMA folks would never do. I don't know any examples but if anyone could elaborate, I would appreciate it. I was considering attending a seminar on self-defense and Krav Maga was one that came up. The others were Peyton Quinn's RMCAT (I think), Kelly MCcain's Crucible Systems self-defense, and one more guy who is an ex-Army MP who teaches self-defense and gun handling (I forgot his name). I was also considering Tony Blauer's system too. Then 9-11 came along, screwed up my vacation plans and now I gotta work all the time :-) Can't attend any cool seminars until probably next year. > > Re: 'Remember 9/11/01'- Here is an impossible >> photo collection from around the world.
