He will hold a training camp sometime in June w/c my brothers and I will attend. You don't have to attend the camp being that you will have to take care of your son. Guro Jun is however based in toronto and has his school there. Check him out. I am quite confident that you will have a great FMA experience w/ him. Check out his website. http://kalideleon.com/ Maybe we'll meet each other there. God bless you and your son and a speedy recovery. I think Mr. McNab will be the first to admit that. In fact the SAS prided themselves on their open-mindedness. There are numerous examples in the literature some quoted by McNab himself. These include incorporation of "jap-slapping" (sic, their term, not mine!) imported from Indonesia in their hand-to-hand training, learning to use local plants and animals for healing amongst other things and modified pistol shooting method learned from Michael Bentine (one of the Goons, aparently a crack shot with a style of his own). Several sources quote that a great deal of success for the SAS resulted from their respect for the locals and their culture and their willingness to stand shoulder to shoulder with them when it hit the fan. At least for me, as long as there is no thought/brain involved, I seem to be OK and not likely to fall apart. I wonder if our other readers have this "auto-pilot" mode also. Or are most of our readers "fully conscious" and thinking consciously of every move they make? I know I don't. >> Hi, To be perfectly candid, you are correct in that experience plays a huge part in the success of controlling another person, be it pain compliance or what ever. After 15+ years of doing this work, I kinda click into "auto-pilot" instinctively. As for what I do when pain compliance fails, I use pain compliance mainly as a lead-in to a lock and/or takedown, just to facilitate the lock, or to break a hold that an inmate may have on me or a co-worker. If pain doesn't get their attention, I just apply the lock to a major joint (shoulder, elbow, or cervical spine, for example), and manipulate the joint a bit past it's usual range or motion. Even if they are impervious to the pain, by directing the joint to the floor, the person has little choice but to follow.
