Whether or not they actually have the discipline to train the stuff is the real question. I'm guessing (and hoping) that most won't. Dedicated to promoting the Filipino martial art of arnis regardless of style, PG Dantes has experienced the teachings of many highly respected grandmasters. If you can attend a seminar, try to do so. Children's Spring Kali Fundraising Seminar: http://www.f-a-t-e.org/FMA1/levelonechild.html This past month the fate organization held a fundraising event in Delaware, this event was dedicated to the memory of Professor Remy Presas. The money went to help pay for the past Victims of Abuse Program " Facilitating Awareness through Empowerment Program" held in the Tri State area. To see the format of this seminar, pictures and full Syllabus Please go here: http://www.f-a-t-e.org/FMA1/levelonechild.html On a personal level, I always receive a positive experience teaching these kinds of seminars to children. They are totally without ego, and no one has to win or lose. By having the opportunity of just promoting the art and core history to them in a manor that brings everyone growth. The format that we teach to children is much different then our adult class in the FATE organizations styling of FMA. the FATE orgs policy is that we will not teach are core program in FMA to children under the age of 15 unless they are taking the class with one of there adult family members. in this instance though it becomes a very bonding experience and very good for the child and adult taking the class together and in a much more traditional Filipino way... The format for this Children's Spring Seminar has a very different format to it then a traditional FMA class for adults. the intent here is to help promote the positive flow and motion in the FMA to children in a way that teaches them the history and evolution of the Filipino martial arts and the Filipino culture. Then working to teach focus, positive flow, and education in a manor that when we do teach a block or strike its strictly for defense. Furthermore, It is not about combative movements with the children in this kind of seminar for them. These Seminars are taught best out doors in either a park, on the beach or large back yard...........:) This one took place on a sunny spring day along a small river in clearing in the woods of Delaware.... There is a special dedication to Professor Remy by the Founders of the F.A.T.E. organization at the end of the above listed web page. Ms. J bows deeply. If anyone is interested in hosting a seminar like this in your area over the summer please contact the FATE organization either via email FATE@f-a-t-e.org or by phone 1-888-526-4626, all proceeds go back into bringing victims of abuse programs in SDA, and Realty based martial arts training, and holistic healing classes for long term empowerment over past victimization. in tern brining are children positive examples through the FMA and the process of changing the cycles of abuse they face in today's society. --__--__-- _______________________________________________ Eskrima mailing list Eskrima@martialartsresource.net http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/eskrima http://eskrima-fma.net Old digest issues are available via ftp://ftp.martialartsresource.com.
