First of all, I was talking about complete FMA systems not other systems. If Dr. Gyi teaches a complete FMA system whose roots are 100% Filipino, if he learned everything he knows in the Philippines, if he has not incorporated any other system, style or art (not native of the Philippines)in his system to make up for its shortcomings, then you are right and I am definitely wrong. Otherwise, I am right. In the Philippines, Gat Puno and his late father treated other Filipinos for medical ailments. Even now Gat Puno still treats people here who seek medical help when traditional care has not been enough. Finally, I write and have written what I know to be true. Enough said. Respectfully, Al Sardinas Student of Garimot System of Arnis _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com --__--__-- Message: 2 Date: Sat, 8 Jun 2002 12:57:47 -0700 (PDT) From: jim bruce To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net, the_dojang@martialartsresource.net Subject: [Eskrima] Re: Daniel Pearl (RIP) video Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net > View at your own risk. It was very interesting. For those who might be interested in reading a brief analysis/critique of Patton's saber system, I highly recommend the book "The Secret History of the Sword" by Christoph Amberger. In the chapter titled "The Seduction of Art - Cut vs. Thrust in Military Sword Play" he spends several pages discussing the controversy over the system. Incidentally, I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in swords. There are fantastic historic pictures and illustrations and TONS of interesting facts, stories and essays.
