Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net >From what I have read and also heard from my pinoy friends, I must agree with what several have said about the term Kali not being used, or at least not used widely, in the Philippines. Does anyone from the Villabrille/Largusa lineage know when Manong Floro began to use that term for his art? I must assume it was sometime after arriving in Hawaii...??? One story that I have heard via both the Villabrille lineage and the Dizon lineage is the 'same same' story. When asked the difference between Eskrima and Kali, Manong Floro replied, "Eskrima, Kali, same same."
