Historical fencing (eskrima-admin@martialartsresource.net) --__--__-- Message: 1 To: "Eskrima digest" Date: Tue, 30 Jul 2002 16:52:57 -0700 From: eskrima-admin@martialartsresource.net Subject: [Eskrima] Historical fencing Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net During my recent trip to Prague, Czech Republic I saw something interesting: I found at least three shops selling replicas of various historical swords. The choice was quite large from short jobs to huge two-handers. These were made from carbon steel but without edges and their sole purpose was to practise historical sword-play. They were not all that expensive. Aparently there is a few groups who are into this. I saw a small group practising in a park. They were about 15-25 year-old lads and quite handy with the cutlery. As I am not sure that I have seen anything similar in North America and would not know where to start looking for similar items, I wondered if some members of this digest might find this information useful. On the other hand I know that some of you have done historical fencing in the US (e.g. Animal). I wonder where you got your cutlery from?
