I am a Judoka, and I want to open my school in Rostock in the former east of Germany. I also want to offer something with sticks or sword. I got a offer to become a Eskrima teacher. I must pay about 500 Euro and I get 20 hours lesson, my equipment, and a certificate that allows me to be a Eskrima teacher and have my own school. The certificate is also by the only organisation recognized by Phillipines government. Since I am new to Eskrima, please help me. Is this a fair offer? Can I also teach Eskrima to children and from what age? Many thanks, Michael. --__--__-- Message: 2 From: KaliDave@aol.com Date: Wed, 4 Sep 2002 21:49:50 EDT To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Subject: [Eskrima] P. G. Edgar Sulite... ( Guro Dave Gould) Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Hi guys, I hope that all is well with everyone. After reading Steve Kohns and other comments I felt that I had to respond to this thread. First and foremost let me state that I am most definetly not Punong Guro Sulites successor nor do I have ambitions of ever being such. I want to make that clear before politics rears its ugly head and a nasty debate ensues. A few years ago Mrs. Sulite did choose some one other than Christopher Ricketts to head the system, as to avoid a bad spirited debate I won`t mention names. It is true that Master Ricketts is the next highest senior ranking Instructor, and thusly has control of the system. At last I had heard he was happy with the direction of Bakbakan and has little time for the propagation of Lameco. Although saddened I understand and respect his position. Meanwhile Lameco remains in limbo... The person that Mrs. Sulite has chosen to have control of the system has been working for the last 5 years on bringing P.G. Sulites passion back to the masses, but unfortunately I have`nt heard when this may actually occur. After all 5 years is 5 years, and once again Lameco remains in limbo... I can`t speak for the others for I am one person and I have only one opinion. I owe P.G. Sulite more than I can ever repay him with one life. So I work out with intention on a daily basis and teach where I may in hopes of keeping P.G. Sulites name and system in the forefront of Eskrima. As Punong Guro Sulites last certified instructor there is only so much that I can do from with-in the system so I try and touch one person at a time. This task is clearly the responsibility of Punong Guro Sulites Senior Instructors ( Of whom too many are missing in action). Punong Guro Sulite was a great man, a great friend, and phenominal teacher and I think it is absolutely shameful that his passion for the indigenous pilipino warrior arts have been kept silenced to the general masses for so long. He and his system require so much more respect than either has received thus far, since his unfortunate passing. I feel more than fortunate to have trained privately under him from 92` to 97` and feel sorry for those who have never had the opportunity to know this Giant of the pilipino warrior arts. He is missed dearly by myself and many to be sure, and I for one will proudly stand for him even if this means that I stand alone... Take care guys, ciao. Guro Dave Gould. --__--__-- Message: 3 From: Ray Terry Subject: Re: [Eskrima] Eskrima Teacher To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Date: Wed, 4 Sep 2002 17:41:53 -0700 (PDT) Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net > I am a Judoka, and I want to open my school in Rostock in the former east > of Germany. Would you have been ready to teach Judo after your first 20 hours of Judo training? May I ask what organization this is that is recognized by the Philippines gov? Comments from others???
