We use a simultaneous block and punch to the knee/leg (even against low kicks), which requires recognising the kick early on. We use foot checking and shin blocks as well, but I was wondering what other ways other people use to deal with kicks. Also if anyone has any specific drills for recognising/reacting to kicks, I'd be interested to hear about it. Today I received 3 list-related emails that reek of something pathogenic. For example, I received this from eskrima-request@martialartsresource.net . . . This is an automated response. There were problems with the email commands you sent to Mailman via the administrative address . To obtain instructions on valid Mailman email commands, send email to with the word "help" in the subject line or in the body of the message. The following is a detailed description of the problems. >>>>> Subject line ignored: >>>>> Let's be friends -Mik: I sent no such message and received two other messages which I immediately deleted. One came from a host "elsa.i". That's all of the info that I have. Another came from a host with a domain name ending with ".o". Delete these if you see them. IMHO they are bad news. One said something about a "good tool" in the subject line. Just a heads up friends. Mitakuye Oyasin. Perhaps a bold statement, but given the current state of virus technology such is the case. I, too, received a couple of these msgs, but given the addrs, subject, etc, it was obviously a hoax of sorts. We seem to continue to encounter problems with those running other list(s) that apparently think they can increase their readership by attempting to impact us. Sorry...
