Kitchen Knives, 1 German Shephard, 1 St. Bernard, 1 mutt of some sort, Trainning Sticks, Motion Lights. 1 Balisong 2. Those you left in your car More Sticks (for class) Telescopic Baton, A drumstick (so I can practice twirling in my car w/out suspesion) Folding Knives, Keys 3. Those you carrry with you. Folding Knives, Cell Phone, Keys, and my inhaller case that really has pepper spray. (thanks to FMA I rarely use my inhaler now ) and my eyes and ears, and loud voice. Well Peace be with us ALL. The training includes Inosanto blend Kali among other Martial Arts. Anyway, I did attend to one of the Kas-Pin seminar and I've also seen a lot of stuff which is taught in Kas-Pin. Yes it is as Jussi wrote earlier very much based on FMA. Some knife tricks were new to me mostly the 'forms'. Also I agree with Jussi that pressure points are Kaarlo's favorite and he is good on those (no wonder considering his attributes....BIG hands :). But as I discussed with him people tend to have two hands and two legs so no ground breaking news here. (even when I go out running.) In the car, I usually have a number of sticks. (Hey, officer, it's my workout gear.....). And just for the record, I believe that real combat shooting is a martial art. The psychological aspects of being prepared to shoot someone for real, and that required to maintain your cool under fire is just tremendous. It's pretty unique and doesn't come from squeezing off a few hundred rounds at targets. Unfortunately some of these can't be carried legally, which doesn't make any sense to me considering that most "bad guys" are running around with handguns now. K. If you're gonna pack, might as well do it legally. Yet another good reason for me to move out of California, it isn't a Shall Issue state... We anticipate that the 2003 Arnold World Games will be the biggest athletic event in the world. There will be around 10,000 athletic competitors and over 70,000 spectators. The Arnold Battle of Columbus (the martial arts portion of the event), there will be over 12 different arts represented and we're expecting over 4,000 martial artists in attendance from a wide variety of disciplines. The Arnold Kali Invitational has four sections. There is a forms competition, a self-defense competition, an adult stickfighting competition -- with both single and double stick divisions -- and, new this year, a children's stickfighting division using padded sticks. The bottom line: the Filipino Martial Arts community has been offered an opportunity to get some really large-scale, mainstream exposure at a grand event. Last year was a lot of fun and we had a decent turn out. Help make this year's turn out even better. Who makes this flashlight? Do you have a number/website where to order one? I have been looking for something like this for years, but could only find C size batteries as the smallest. Thanks. My eyes, ears, nose. I try to live in "Condition Yellow". The NRA is currently using the scheme of Unaware, Aware, Alert, Action. I -try- to live in the Aware condition. Two or three pocket knives. Pepper spray, sometimes (different containers than both above). Sometimes other things from above. Cellphone. But eyes, ears, nose seem to work the best... Also for me, (4) Those carried while out bicycling. I carry very little with me while biking, so only a cellphone, knife, pepper spray (yet another different container than those above). Eyes, ears, nose... What? Me paranoid? Not with all the above... :) Ray Terry rterry@idiom.com __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Thanks. I wish... Used to have three, but now only one. Wish I could still find them, but I can't. It used to go under the name of "The Brute", or something like that. One problem with them was that they weren't really the best flashlights, but then that was not why they were made the way they were. Light, very hard and sturdy, short... A great flashlight for under the front car seat. Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net In LaCoste Kali (as taught by Guro Dan Inosanto), firearms certainly could be considered martial arts as that system has a section called "projectile weapons" and includes the "portable cannon" in its list of possible weapons.
