All you need is a bench grinder, a rotozip with a tough cutting bit a marker for drawing the shape and leather for the handle. Takes about 20 minutes if you work fast and know what you are doing. Shape it, takes some charcoal and clay, make a slurry to cover the spine and all but a 1/4 in down the edge. This edge should be about an 1/8 inch thick now. any less and it'll crack during the quenching process. Heat to a orange color (seen at nite for best results)in your fire and quench in ice water. Then finish grinding the edge and use a diamond sharpener per the standard instructions. Voila!! a Kerambit in about 1/2 hour or so if all is ready. Not pretty, but Functional. Personally, I use pieces of a broken kamagong stick for a handle. I love kamagong for its sweat absorbing, no slip quality. just what you need on a knife with no guard. My design, when holding it via the icepick grip , involves a grip such that when holding it it covers your right index finger with a pommel so that you can hook punch on you way in and cut as your leaving. Personally, if your going tht far, mount a kerambit blade to a pair of brass "paperweights"...the ones with the 4 holes in them. Just musings though...as I'm not a fan of the kerambit unless as master like Hernan Suwanda (RIP) is using it. I would a like bigger blade such as a 15 in Bowie personally. Killing Children. As a nation we've done it though hopefully not purposely(in conflicts like Nam) but this seems to be a blatant killing of children. Makes me thankful that visayan eskrima is alive and well here...wouldn't want to go there and learn it...might have to forget about being pacifist for awhile if i did. :-( Thanks for the post.
