"Or exactly 7,107." Blimey, did you go count them all? ;o) I guess that depends on your definition of an island. Less than 500 (around 462) are bigger than one square mile - not what you might regard as being habitable - not for very long, anyway! There are only eleven islands bigger than 1,000 square miles (and if your maths aren't that great, that's about 32 x 32 miles), and only two islands are bigger than 5,200 square miles. Again, if your maths aren't that great, that is about 72 miles long by 72 miles wide (not that they're that shape of course!). Oh yes, and only about one third of the islands have names in any case. For a further perspective: Great Britain is a small country, but it's still bigger in area (by about 7,000 square miles) than all of the Philippine islands put together. Hope this helps. If not, please delete! ;o) Pugil --__--__-- Message: 2 Date: Sun, 16 Mar 2003 08:23:25 -0500 From: Kevin To: "eskrima@martialartsresource.net" Subject: [Eskrima] Re: Choked on Test Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net I want to thank everyone for their input. I accepted the advancement, and did not say anything to my Guro the next day about choking on the test. Looking back on the test I figured why I choked. I had a difficult time associating the name of the technique with the technique. It is the same as associating a person with their name. I never forget a face, yet always have difficulty associating names with people. It is something I will work harder on to over come. Again, your input is appreciated. If I read it I'm likely to remember it. The problem with the 7107 is that many of them are only present at low tide. As you say, the RP is a diverse place, but apparently not nearly as diverse as some believe. BUNO, LAYUG, DUMOG. I think the buno is Tagalog but I would appreciate being clear on this matter. Sincerely, Gordon Walker P.s. I will be attending the Rutano Seminar in Calgary even if it means robbing the laundry money. Just kidding hon... --------------------------------- Post your free ad now! Yahoo!
