What he could do when he had to was. In reputation, ability and action he surpassed his teachers, so origin was simply for chismis rather than "credibility" reasons. He made his reputation the old fashioned way, he fought and earned it. No need to attach himself to anyone or any region. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! When I FINALLY get that beaten through my thick skull maybe I can get throught the flow drills without tying myself in knots --__--__-- Message: 4 From: "rocky pasiwk" To: Date: Thu, 27 Mar 2003 22:58:56 -0500 Subject: [Eskrima] Hilot, Rocks rant Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net First off I would agree with Gm Gat about taking advantage of learning Hilot. I was 17 and had mano (sp) of all things you know the kissing disease, any ways Remy was in town to give a seminar and his cousin gave me a couple of treatments adjustment, what ever you want to call it. All I can tell you is I was up and going for the seminar about 4 days before the Doctor said I would, I don't know if it was the hilot for sure but I sure felt better for the day of the seminar, I crashed the next day but I was up and running for the seminar. Francis ( sp ) sorry for the spelling, just for your info I to am against war of any kind, Unfortunately it is all to often a necessary evil, and in America you do have that great freedom of voicing your opinion against it. But when someone occupies the police officer's time with some ridiculous die in, now they are infringing upon my rights as a citizen to have that police officer available to protect my family and others against real dangers that happen everyday to people. And when people start protesting against our soldiers that's just not right, these guys are the ones that gave us the rights we have. And most soldiers don't want war either, they know that at times it is a necessary evil though, ( hell most of the guys are there to get money for college ) and I for one will protest against anyone that protest against them, enough said, I now return you to you regularly scheduled FMA digest. On a lighter note: If you wanna be ambidex....ambadext...ammba..oh hell if you wanna get good with both hands, practice all your two man drill both left and right and more important, practice your weak hand against your partners strong hand and vice versa... And if you really want a challenge in your training, I got the perfect training partner for you. WARNING EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, THIS SHOULD ONLY BE PRACTICED BY ADVANCED STUDENT, EXTREME INJURY CAN OCCUR.......... I have a training tool I have been using for the last 20 yrs I have yet to find anything better. Get a 40 to 45in stick tie a rope about 12 in from one side. On that short end about 3in from the end duct tape a 3lb weight. Put your mouth peace in and safety glasses, YOU WILL LOSE TEETH AND EYES IF YOU DON"T. get in close ( none of the sissy largo stuff ) and start swinging, that stick with the counter weight on it will swing and twist on you in ways that are impossible for a human to do, guaranteed to split you melon, unless of course you use some wimpy :-) helmet. I call it the Molly Whopper!!!! Have fun and enjoy.....I picked this up many moons ago first from GM Presas, then later I saw Master Erwin Ballarta, using it from Pekiti Tersia Arnez ( as he use to call it ) now called Kali ( oh no I said the K word ) P.S This was a fun toy Gm Presas loved to play with, of course you Modern Arnis guys already new that didn't you???? I live in Niu Valley and once I get back from the mainland (about a month or so) I'd like to start training with you guys. Although once I bring my vehicle back from Wisconsin I'll have more mobility to get out and train with Dogzilla, Chad, and my old instructor, I'm always looking for new people to train with, especially people other than Chad, James, Leroy and the rest of the FCH fighters where I can practice my "secret" training...the better to whack them in unexpected new ways. :D So Chad, being the sonofagun you are, here's fair warning! It's on!!! :D Nah, seriously though, I'd like to get in some practice time with you, Andrew. In fact, I think Chad tried to get me your contact info before but for whatever reason that never happened. Cool...peace, respect and an open mind.
