Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Phillip, Last time I checked, in California (US) it is illegal to carry a butterfly knife ("balisong") a pocket knife with or without a clip over 4-inches in length. Similarly, fixed blades must be worn on the belt, if plain view - not obscured by an outer layer of clothing. Personally, I'm NEVER without my favorite folder: Benchmade AFCK - the older liner lock model. (One cool knife BTW.) Chris Caricci (former US Navy SEAL) designed the knife to able to be used similarly to a palm stick for a less than lethal use of force. Butterfly knifes and knifes with a grib in a 90° angle to the blade are forbidden. As a FMA, do most of you carry a knife/a folder in the pocket, when leaving home? Is this common in USA? Everything starts in the hips." Wish I had figured this out a lot sooner.
