Long ago when I was working in the ER in Mississippi a big strapping young drunk guy tried to rob an old blind man in a wheelchair. The blind man swung his cane and broke the big guys elbow so bad, I'm sure he is reminded of it every day. I've seen quite a few others also, just none done by a blind man in a wheelchair! I am soaking in wood lok oil as i type this and will be icing it. This inury is a result of an arm bar and I would like to continue training, but have been told to rest.Any miracle cures would be appreciated.Gord --------------------------------- Post your free ad now! The strange looks abound when you take one (or a kukri) camping but people get over that pretty quickly, just in time to ask to borrow yours. I was wondering if anyone still had the address to that site. thanx The original version is on my computer, and I will post it on my website soon (www.kbs-system.com), after the magazine has been out for a while, but as of right now, there is no site where you can read the original. I did say that if you were interested in Serrada, that you should seek out more instruction. My reasons for saying this is that you have stated some major conceptual errors. 1)That you believe Serrada is a stick art 2)That the blade edge is used in blocking and deflecting 3)That strikes one and two are limited to the collarbone area > We (my unit), nearly to a man, all carried rather > large knives along the order of the Puma White Hunter > and larger. K-bars were only seen on the deuce gear of > newbies who carried them out of ignorance and old > salts who carried them out of tradition. The Ka-bar is still one of my favorite knives of all time. The only one that I might replace it with is the cold steel SRK. Ray wrote: > > I am no expert on the particulars of Serrada, but my 5 years in FMA under > R.Faye, D. Inosanto, Tuhan W. Please read all relevant posts before responding to my comments. What is crap is that he(Jon) says that he does Serrada and that ,"In Serrada we often hit the hip bone or the elbow or wrist," This is not true of Serrada and this is not how it is taught. As far as DW's comments. I stated that he was partially right, but there are valid reasons for training to target certain areas with certain strikes. Accuracy being one of them. > > You raised good points, but if you do not leave room for yourself and others > to grow, you will undoubtedly miss opportunities that come to you. That is what these discussions have been all about. These are all BASIC concepts in the art of Serrada.
