Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net YEhey all! First off: all those emailed me regarding leather sheath makers: thanksabunch! Also: I was perusing some of my Resident DVD Archivists' films and borrowed his copies of the Samurai Trilogy (1954)...only seen vol 1 so far but lots of swordplay. Which got me to thinkin: did the "Pacific Connection" with Roland Dantes wver make it to DVD? Finally Steve Kohn wrote: >They remind me of Star Trek fans...unbalanced This, sir, was uncalled for. Star Trek fans are not unbalanced...they are just not used to Terran gravity. (Now locking all Phaser banks on target Steve Kohn...) tenrec (sometimes tenTrek) tenrec@avcorner.com jtenrec2@yahoo.com tenrec2 @yahoo.com Wait! Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Awesome!!! That sums up Grand Tuhon Leo Gaje's and Maginoo-Mandala Tim Waid's gathering in Rhode Island. We had many well respected martial artists from New England and other states come to participate and share in the experience. Everyone was blown away by Tuhons in-depth knowledge and his willingness to share the no-nonsense combative structures of Pekiti-Tirsia Kali with us. We are already planning the next gathering of Pekiti-Tirsia in New England with Grand Tuhon Gaje and Mandala Tim Waid. In conjunction with fellow Pekiti Pitbulls, we will make this an annual grand tour. Thank you to all who came and shared in the experience. It was the first....the first of many more to come. Pekiti-Tirsia is alive and on the move in New England!!! In any case, I think it is really important to support the few of us who actually make something lasting of our arts. So bear with me. My training partner, Stephan Kesting, has produced a high quality training DVD, "Introducing Yoga for Martial Arts". He is an elite grappler with BJJ focus but hs is also an Inosanto instructor and highly skilled in Pekiti-Tirsia kali. His day job is firefighting but somehow he has managed to put together an exemplary series of videos/DVDs on grappling in his spare time, and now this latest yoga DVD. I'm already a believer in yoga as an adjunct to my training (primarily Kundalini but I also really like Hatha and Iyengar). But Stephan has taken it the extra step for martial artists. If you don't already do yoga, this might be useful to you. The DVD is a self contained introduction to yoga, designed specifically to meet the needs of martial artists. It focuses on improving flexibility in the hips, legs and back, as well as strengthening core muscles, and controlling the breath. Stephan is ridiculously conscientious and detail oriented so you can count on it being well made. For more info, check out his site at www.yogaformartialarts.com or www.grapplearts.com I'd be interested in anyone's feedback if you do check it out. -- maelstrom \ Loki Jorgenson martial _ \ Pekiti-Tirsia kali loki@maelstromcore.com arts / O_/ Dog Brothers MA www.maelstromcore.com \ Inosanto Academy (604) 340-2480 \ silat Jati Wisesa --__--__-- Message: 5 Date: Fri, 18 Jul 2003 10:22:38 -0700 (PDT) From: braulio agudelo To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Subject: [Eskrima] National Museum of the PI Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net If you're in PI from July 18th to Sept 15th, check out an exhibit I put together for the National Museum of the Philippines, old photography from 100 years ago, many of Moros with their weaponry, the museum curators also put a case of swords and artifacts next to the panels. Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net I know this has probably come up several times before, but right at this moment, I could use some good advice. I copped a direct hit to the testicles today during stick sparring and was wondering if anyone has any tried and tested recovery strategies to recommend? A guy from our group had me take off my shoe and rub my knuckle into the underside arch of my foot. (Same side foot as impact) which helped a little, mind you, just lifting my left ankle onto my right knee while sitting on a bench, helped a lot too. Interestingly, I kept fighting for nearly a full minute after impact, but the pain kept increasing until I invoked the secret ancient technique of falling to my knees screaming! The 1 1/2 hour drive home was just great too! When I got out of the car I could hardly walk (still can't) Any advice would be greatly appreciated, but trust me, massage is not an option!!! As someone who looks forward to reading ED, I thought it my duty to inform you of the situation. Recently, Dr. Barber held his Symposium. While there it was revealed that "Lamont Norshadow" was in fact a fictitious person. Several in fact. It was brought to my attention that "Norshadow" has in the past both been mentioned and published in ED. A quick search of your archives revealed 10 such cases. As part of our policy to share information on 'problematic users', I'm emailing you to make you aware of the situation. For reference please see this thread on MartialTalk : In the "Nor"Shadow of a lie http://www.martialtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?&threadid=9026 We have banned "NorShadow" and Dr. Barber is suspended from MartialTalk for at least 3 months due to his part of the 'incident'. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
