This predates MT by at least 2 years. Dr. Barber used a false identity to up the visibility of his events, and now has been caught. The evidence is on both MT and ED where it can be read, unedited, and everyone can make their own decisions. "NorShadow" used a staff email address from the same college Dr. Barber works at to post to ED. (See Inayan_Eskrima/FMA-Digest V6 #207 ) Our action was based on obvious rules violations pertaining to our forum. The personal issues are between Hartman and Barber. Let them hash it out, I think the rest of us got sticks to bang. :) With respects, Bob Bob Hubbard MartialTalk.com Administrator & MartialTalk Magazine Editor. ---- MartialTalk.com - Friendly discussion about the martial arts Martialtalk.com/Magazine - The martial arts digest --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Regarding ORIGINAL Doce Pares: Venancio "Anciong" Ba'con WAS an original member, according to GM Cacoy, part of the "Lanbangan Fencing Club", the predecessor of Doce Pares. He didn't leave the orginazation until approximately 1934. Why he isn't on that list is beyond me, but there are LOTS of different versions of history floating around! If you look in Dionisio's book, however, there is a 1932 photo of Doce Pares, and Bacon isn't in it. Go figure. Everybody who has spoken to me of "Original" Doce Pares has usually mentioned him (Bacon) in some way or another, though. Guro Chris Petrilli used to tell me that Balintawak was the principles of "Old" Doce Pares (Yoling - Momoy era) using the "Under-Thumb" grip. Ray Terry rterry@idiom.com I believe that this post mentioned "last original founding father" of Doce Pares. Wasn't he an original member and not a founding father? Grandmaster Cacoy was then only 12 years old (born 1919) when Doce Pares was formed in 1932. Some have claimed that Tatang and Angel trained together. Yet both Tatang and Angel claimed otherwise, so I suspect they would know. Of course Angel trained with Dizon. We suspect that Angel continued to evolve his style from what he picked up from Dizon, as some have said that Serrada and Dizon's style looked fairly dissimilar. Dizon and Villabrile and also thought to have trained together. Yep, Cacoy would have been 12 or 13. 5 or 6 years of Eskrima training with Momoy and others. Not exactly sure where in the list one would draw the line to determine founding fathers. But I doubt Cacoy was 'a father' at age 13... :) Ray Terry rterry@idiom.com --__--__-- Message: 7 From: "barry meadows" To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Subject: Re: [Eskrima] Knives and Daggers, on Conquest Date: Thu, 24 Jul 2003 04:49:13 +0000 Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Ray,I seen that one this weekend. It had some good stuff, however it was disipointing not to even mention the FMA's kinda like a slap in the face actually.Maybe he was only doing the western versions I suppose; he could have at least mentioned something about Trapping, footwork, defanging the serpent, howbout a simple figure eight or something geeeshhhh....Maybe im being to cinical.
