Then when the Saavedras were killed and after the war is when he left (1952ish) to form the Balintawak, with a bunch of other (soon to be former) Doce Pares members. This is also when the Doce Pares started becoming a distinct style and not just a group of like-minded Eskrimadors I believe (please correct me if I am mistaken Ray). Since this list appears in the Doce Pares version of history, i wonder if this is just an oversite or something more insidious ;o) (just kidding Ray - dont go flaming me)... see ya Rob Perkins --__--__-- Message: 3 From: "Danny Anderson" To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Subject: Subject: [Eskrima] The Final Days of Remy Presas Reply Date: Thu, 24 Jul 2003 21:10:18 +0000 Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net In the July 2003 issue of CFW Enterprises Filipino Martial Arts magazine there is an article written by Datu Kelly S. Worden titled "The Final Days of Remy Presas". If possible, I will appreciate some clarification of this article. Datu Worden quoted that the late Professor Presas complained that there were "so many skilled followers with no strength or time left to guide the destiny or leadership of the system". Datu also writes in one paragraph that Grandmaster Presas told his grandson Carlo that he is the heir and has the right to be groomed to be the next grandmaster of modern arnis and continue the Presas legacy. In the final paragraphof the article, it is stated that Grandmaster Presas asked his son Remy Jr. to continue the legacy. So my questions are who did GM Presas picked to be at the helm, Carlo or Remy Jr. and does that leave out Grandmaster Jeffrey J. Delaney? I see his ad in all the martial art magazines stating that he is the designated successor. Respectfully, Al Sardinas Student of Garimot System of Arnis   Dear Al, There is much controversy about who is who in the Modern Arnis world and what Remy Presas said to whom.  To my understanding, Remy Presas was making a closure to one and all and wanted each to continue on the legacy of the art.  Unfortunately, he was too ill for a huge gathering of ALL his top students to make his final wishes BROADLY known.  I do not doubt what he said to his family to be what he actually said.  I also do not doubt what he said to others to be actually what he said as well.  Herein lies the difficulty of really duplicating his final wishes.  My own answer to his statement to me is what I am doing in Modern Arnis 80. I think it was attached to an email that alleges to come from Ray Terry. However, Ray has never sent me any direct email so I think it was from someone else. Attached document: Marressums.rtf.exe. My virus software said this had a virus. I know Ray would not send such, so I think his email was hijacked. You can easily tell that it is a spam/virus. It comes from an obviously fake email addr and it contains an attachment. As has been mentioned here before, you will NEVER receive an attachment from the Eskrima/FMA list. Thus if you do, just delete it. It is spam, or worse.
