Very true. But that just isn't me, negative that is... I was training in hilot here locally with a very well known teacher. He takes take very few students. It was interesting, but I decided not to continue my training nor the treatments. Jason, An EXCELLENT! question, ignorance would have been not to ask...I know of instructors that teach groups and private classes w/out waivers, however, even if you have liability insurance it is my suggestion/opinion that you should have waivers signed IMMEDIATELY!... Unfortunately, nowadays everyone seems to be lawsuit crazed, even best of friends will file suit if it means big bucks...As far as waivers on a website I'm sure there are...Look under legal forms (waivers)...Although!, I just type out my own, a generic waiver but be sure your wording is accurate, dated, and signed...Make copies, so that you and your student has one, and if you really want to, you can have a witness signature as well... Anyways, hope this helps ya out... Can anyone jump out of a 10 ft hole > wearing 5-7 catties of iron sand? Does anyone know what a cattie is? You mean you can't??? I thought this was part of the typical test for initial admission to most martial arts schools..." Of course I can, Ray, it's the catties that object, scratch and bite. Tried it with doggies - same result! BTW how many taels to a cattie? 2) "> "> ... and don't rely on swinging sticks to stay in shape. > > Actually that is one of the least effective ways to stay in shape." > > Does it not depend on the sticks? And how you swing them? Sure. But it does seem that most FMA-ists that I've encountered over the years that -only- do FMA training for their physical activity are not always in the best physical condition. Is your experience otherwise?" Hm, the sample represented by my personal knowledge is probably too small to be statistically significant. In fact I do not know anyone who does sticks alone - all have background in other martial arts - all are frighteningly fit people. I was just thinking to the time when I did experiments wearing a pulse monitor while doing the power drills described in the DBMA tapes. If one did these with intent, the heart rate approached the aerobic training zone (75-85% maximum predicted). And I did not have to use particularly heavy sticks, just pay attention to the body mechanics. Hitting a bag with sticks in a sustained fashion produces even higher heart rates - comparable to a boxing round. I have to admit that 1) I have not hooked up others to do the same, and 2) I get short of breath just reading about long-distance running :-) Mike Koblic, Campbell River, BC --__--__-- _______________________________________________ Eskrima mailing list Eskrima@martialartsresource.net http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/eskrima http://eskrima-fma.net Old digest issues available @ ftp://ftp.martialartsresource.com.
