But some few arts (Muay Thai, etc) are probably better, simply because the skill training often takes a backseat to conditioning right from the get go. Wrestling is often like this as well. My understanding is that the true technique is developed when fatigued. Taking the roundkick for example, a beginner will always rely on the just the kick from the hip and not use the body torque. Only when fatigued do they develop the torque that makes the kick what it is, as that is the only way to develop any force. Using that technique while fresh simply increases the acceleration (F=ma) If you are tired on the mat and strength won't do, it's the technique that comes into play. So I beg to differ. With increased cardio, I definitely can 'see' the fight better and pick the shot required whether in Thai, ground or stick. Without that cardio im chasing shadows. BTW, Im getting good results from Stephen Kesting's Yoga For Martial Artists at the moment. Can not get into some of the poses (short chunky type legs) but in general I feel so much better and less tight. Groundwork has improved noticeably. No malicious intents what so ever. I just want to know where did he get the title if he is using the the title that I have. But its clear honest mistake by my "Brother Dan" since he knows me, he assume bong title is Gat Puno. Nothing to put anyone system on this tread. My student called me "Guro" meaning teacher. Yes I will take it as an issue big issue, if anyone used the same titile that I am using. Why? for "distinction", if they can can explained the meaning of these title and really can carry his title. Like what your instructor used. Kataas-tasan Puno meaning, he is the highest, nobody else will be higher than him, I assume you are referring to your system? That understandable. Again there no bad blood, I am not making disrespect gesture, to any system, I just curious when I read the title. We put this title in front on our name for the intentions to be called this way, and to be recognized as is, there no other intention. My title was given to me with one old man in Paete, Laguna (a great artist and historian Mr. R. Bagongahasa) which is given to my father before me by the Paete Arnis Club, but he never used it. I like it and it's my honor to used it. > > My response: Sorry I didn't respond to this sooner. The title Bong uses is > Kataas-Taasang Puno or K. P. Puno" and "Gat Puno."  Like I said, my mistake, and thank you Kapatid Abon for acknowledging that in a private post to me.  Second, Bong has never used that title (or any other for that matter) to me or in my hearing.  "Hi, I'm Bong."  He is a very personable individual not given to putting on airs.  Hey, another American makes a mistake.  Isn't the first, won't be the last.  All for now. Philosophically in the Platonian school of thought, physical matter is imperfect while the form is perfect. The physical body of the person is imperfect while the soul is perfect. The mind of the human being is the equal of the soul. In application of that philosophy, the Tibetan monks who go out in the night under harsh environment wearing nothing but their underwear is a perfect example. A human being experiences pain, heat or cold if his physical body is subjected to certain situations and if he lets his brain interpret the electrical impulses sent by the physical body then the person will really feel pain, cold or heat. But once the person manages to control his mind and manages to sort out and reject the negative impulses sent by the physical body to his brain then he will really feel invincible. Try this, prick yourself with a needle and try to assert in your mind that it is painless and you feel nothing or subject yourself to the harshest training possible and assert in your mind that your body is imperfect and it can go farther, that you are not tired and that the feeling of being tired are all just in the mind, later you will conquer your physical limitation and you will really feel later on that you seem to be tireless. Response: Very true. I have an old training partner who trained in TKD and Hapkido. He could arm wrestle oponents obviously much stronger ( and win) simply by telling his muscles to feel no pain. The weakness/pain, it was explained to me, is merely the body's way of heading off injury. He could do this but the cost was often strained ligaments, ect. Pretty wild to watch. He did alot of mind stuff like this. Not typical for most of the TKD schools I've seen.
