My latest experiment is with a workout I got from a wrestling book by Matt Bryzcki. He has a series of these books, all similar in title. It seems his tendency is towards circuit style weight training, which I had discounted during my "strength at all costs" phase of weight training. I am getting an aerobic workout as well as working the muscles through a full range of motion. Not only that, but there is consideration for classes and practices. So its not like a Bulgarian Burst system where you live in the gym every day. I have a tendency towards overtraining. Anyhow, the experimenting continues. Strength has a role in each but I'm sure that endurance is essential. The quote from Tom Clancy goes something like, the deer has no fear of the tiger, if the tiger is wearing cement shoes! Anyone offer input into what type of training they reccomend to achieve this balance. I am seeking greater aerobic capacity without losing strength, as it is an advantage in some instances, however my current tendancy to just run for miles at a fast pace might not be the best plan. How does sprinting work in there? or varied pace run/jog? or 3 minute drills with 30 sec rest periods? Overall fitness is one goal, appropiate endurance for fighting is the other, all by sacrificing as little strength as possible. Difficult objective? If you looking to find a good rattan or choosing rattan the better rattan is the multiple knod type of rattan, but you cannot process the rattan to hardened, like a lot of Eskrimadores is claiming. The only thing you can do is dried them so is not so heave and heat them using torch before starighting up the curb rattan. I spend my entire life in the family of Arnisadores, and I never heard nor knowledge to hardened the rattan. The secret of other eskrimadores said soaked it in lyseed oil, or other type of oil, believed me this does nothing to hardened the rattan. After few times of training, is will get the same result from the stick that not soaked in any type of oil, it will split/dented, or break. There a lot of variety of rattan, so just make sure learn/know the type of rattan first, then you can choose the type of rattan you want to used as Eskrima stick. But the simple thing to remember the nodes you got the better your chances to last your stick for longer "banging" exercises. I dont want to dispassion you, but I dont want you to mislead by others, this is the nature of rattan. > From: Rudyshorei@aol.com > Good Afternoon > Writing to ask if anyone knows the process to harden raw rattan stick for > escrima use? > thank you for youre time > Rudy Carrillo > rudyshorei@aol.com > > Enjoy your training, E-mail me if you have more further question.
