Kinda depends on what type of knife and what type of stick... In a choice between something like a Gerber Mark II vs. a 12" stick, I'd take the Gerber. But a Swiss Army knife vs. a 28" Bahi stick, I'd take the stick. Others??? Generally when I ask other escrimadors or people who train with knives they do not have much to say. _________________________________________________________________ Share your photos without swamping your Inbox. Replaced it with the Cold Steel Pro Lite with clip point tip and serrated edge. That bad boy is awesome. Still prefer the light and slim carry of the Endura in dress or casual clothes. The Pro Lite is a little heavier, but has an awesome feel. After playing with it for a while and going back to the Endura, makes the Spyderco feel like a toy. Picked up the Pro Lite off eBay for $38.00 which I think is incredible. Thought it was worth mentioning to yous knife guys. There is a big Inayan Eskrima following in the Milwaukee/Green Bay/Appleton area. Thanks to the efforts of the late founder, his son Suro Jason Inay, Jena Inay, Tom Lopez, Kevin Schonebeck, and the rest of the loyal Wisconsin students & Inayan instructors. Please email Kevin Schoenebeck for details (KSCHOENE@ONEIDANATION.ORG). There is also an annual Inayan System 3-day camp in July that is open to all and is usually held in Green Bay that Kevin sponsors with the help of the TRIBE (Oneida Nation). We had to stopped teaching DM at the UW Madison & University of Chgo. locations since most students who were involved graduated. You are welcome back to our association anytime, the Octopus will always grow. If you provide us with contact info for Steve & the rest of the UW DM crowd, that would help. Thanks, Nate Defensor www.defensormethod.com PS: just left you a VM at number you provided, been busy fixing network problems, I apologize for not getting back to you. --__--__-- Message: 7 From: "Joseph Camins" To: Subject: Re: [Eskrima] Re:Stick and knife Date: Thu, 9 Oct 2003 07:33:57 -0700 Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net I'd grab the knife (3 inches or more.) Your average killer (LOL) probably doesn't know how to use a stick to do me damage...unlike the folks on this list...but he/she could definitely do damage with a knife trained or untrained. -Joji ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ray Terry" To: Sent: Wednesday, October 08, 2003 20:13 Subject: Re: [Eskrima] Re:Stick and knife > > This question/senario has been dropped before but I thought it might be > > interesting as I havnt seen it in while. > > Hypothectic: > > You and a killer are locked in a room,in the middle of the room is both a > > stick and a knife, you make a run for a weapon( you can only pick up one for > > the sake of the argument)ok which one do you pick up knowing the killer will > > get the other and you will fight till death? > > Im all ears!!!!!! > > Kinda depends on what type of knife and what type of stick... > > In a choice between something like a Gerber Mark II vs. a 12" stick, I'd > take the Gerber. > > But a Swiss Army knife vs. a 28" Bahi stick, I'd take the stick. > > Others??? > > Ray Terry > rterry@idiom.com > _______________________________________________ > Eskrima mailing list, 1700 members > Eskrima@martialartsresource.net > Copyright 1994-2003: Ray Terry and Martial Arts Resource > Standard disclaimers apply > http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/eskrima --__--__-- Message: 8 From: "Jason" To: Subject: Re: [Eskrima] Re:Stick and knife Date: Thu, 9 Oct 2003 08:01:39 -0700 Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Greetings all, Before I can add my two cents.... I have to ask first, does the killer have any training? This might make a deference in my perceptions. But if the killer in the room with you is not a "fighter" then most likely he'll go for the knife. So let him and while then he thinks he has the upper hand kick his ass with the stick take his knife away and beat him senseless. =) Francis [demime 0.98e removed an attachment of type image/gif which had a name of 09_sky_header.gif] [demime 0.98e removed an attachment of type image/gif which had a name of 09_sky_side.gif] [demime 0.98e removed an attachment of type image/gif which had a name of IMSTP.gif] [demime 0.98e removed an attachment of type Image/jpeg which had a name of 09_sky_tile.jpg] --__--__-- _______________________________________________ Eskrima mailing list Eskrima@martialartsresource.net http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/eskrima http://eskrima-fma.net Old digest issues available @ ftp://ftp.martialartsresource.com.
