I don't have one of their barongs, but I notice that they have 'seconds' on these on sale right now. I understand that KK stands for Krabi Krabong, my only question is how long are the sticks. Also the only demo I have ever seen of KK is from the James Bond movie, You only live twice, where can I pick up demo tapes? I would like to see what this is all about." Ajarn Salty would be able to answer this question more precisely than I, but until he does, here goes: I have just measured the KK sword that Mike De Lio (who trained at Buddaiswain in Thailand) gave me after our fight . Its overall length is 34" of which 14" is handle. I have an American made KK stick of 36" of which 14" is handle. The length of the handle seems to many to be a waste of length that could be better used as blade, but KK does have its logic. You may get a glimpse of KK in the demo clip of Ajarn Salty Dog's KK video (DBMA#5) at http://www.dogbrothers.com/index1.htm Yip! Very nice to look at and very well made. As an all purpose and camp tool, I was kindly gifted with one and it has been in varied use for almost a year now. It makes for quick work in a calding and litson. Even fine chopping for the suam and darandaran was done with much ease. The blade is however a bit heavy and slow, and balance and edge aren't as keen as a real Moro Barong but on the whole it stands up to alot of abuse in the field. The kaluban or scabbard does not have a panaklayan which makes for a difficult carry as a side arm in your barikes, so as a camp tool some modification to the kaluban is needed if you plan to carry it on your belt or barikes, etc. Also after extended carry in the camp/field the kaluban was prone to split so adding a kunto, a hasuhaso or an ubakan tali will prolong the life of the kaluban. Ultimately The Cold Steel Moro Barong makes for a very nice gift and with some imagination and a little work, the new owner can customize and personalize it to their liking and to know they have a piece made with the quality and reputation of Cold Steel.
