They are the strikes that both the knife and the live hand thrust the opponent. How are the moves supposed to be made and what are the trying to accomplish? To: Subject: [Eskrima] On the Phiippine KKK Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Karol, Actually, in the Philippines KKK refers to the revolutionary group led by Andres Bonifacio that fought against the Spaniards. KKK, or Katipunan for short, stands for "Kataastaasan, Kagalanggalang na Katipunan nang manga Anak ng Bayan" - a definitely non-ominous group than the KKK in America. KKK can also be translated in English as "Sons of the Nation." The group was founded 4 years after the arrest of Jose Rizal. Teodoro Agoncillo, a Filipino historian writes the following about the KKK: "Under the leadership of Bonifacio, the Katipunan laid down three fundamental objectives or aims: political, moral and civic. The political objectives consisted in working for the separation of the Philippines from Spain. The moral objective revolved about around the teaching of good manners, hygiene, good morals, and attacking obscurantism, religious fanaticism, and weakness of character. The civic aim revolved around the principle of self-help and the defense of the poor and the oppressed. All members were urged to come to the aid of the sick comrades and their families, and in case of death the society itself was to pay for the funeral expenses. For the purpose of economy however, the society saw to it that the funeral was of the simplest kind, avoiding unnecessary expenses so common under the rule of the friars." So KKK is actually important to the history of the Philippines and regarded in high esteem. As for the purpose, I think they are finishing moves. Hope that helps. If you want, I can ask my Guro tomorrow. GES wrote: >Can someone explain Inayan KDM strikes 11 &12?
