Williams" To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Date: Fri, 05 Dec 2003 22:02:31 -0500 Subject: [Eskrima] RE: Inayan KDM strike 11 & 12msgs Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Mr. S., From what I was taught the 11 strike is a combination strike much like a jab/cross combination, I have seen it aimed at the respective collarbones and also to the chest (like a set of 6 & 7 lines). The 12 is a double simultaneous strike to the opposing collarbones. The history beind the 12 line deals with the original Spanish "visitors" to the Philippines. They wore metal breastplates and, in order to deliver an effective strike, the punch or stab had to go around the breastplate, thusly the 12 line goes at a slightly downward angle on the collarbones. The 12 line, if the knife is in Earth grip, involves a strike with the butt of the knife (since it would be basically pointing that way anyhow). If the knife is in the Heaven grip it is a straight stab. I hope this was helpful.
