Another excellent tool to put in your belt are the new dvds by Blaise Loong. There are three that would probably interest you the most. (1) Sun, Moon, Wind > this dvd is on the basics of the bolo knife/sword. Focused on large knives and shorter swords. Great basics for the beginner and review/tune up for the experienced. (2) Silat Sabungin vol. 1 > this dvd introduces a short knife fighting style from the filipines based on cock fighting. Lots of good, basic entres, and targeting. (3) Silat Sabungin vol. 2 > this is a follow-up to vol. 1 (obviously) and focuses on evasions and counters. Note: Silat Sabungin vol. 3 should be finished within 4-6 weeks. Other dvds currently abailable by Blaise are Dos Labahas (double sword)and Gladius 101. All of these dvs can be purchased at www.boneheadllc.com. There are clips you can watch just to give you a flavor of the dvds. Anyway, those three in particular should be great additions to your style. Hope that helps. --__--__-- Message: 2 To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Date: Wed, 11 Feb 2004 09:06:05 -0600 (CST) From: ulfhead@integrity.com Subject: [Eskrima] Re: "Big Knife Fighting" Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Oh yeah. Another great dvd in the works by Blaise Loong is on "Apache Knife Fighting". So, there is yet another great resource for knife techniques. Thanks. --__--__-- Message: 3 Date: Wed, 11 Feb 2004 17:45:12 -0800 (PST) From: NAVARRO FULBERT To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Subject: [Eskrima] Arnis was featured in the PDI? Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Greetings! May I ask what is the date of the issue when Arnis was featured in the Philippine Daily Inquirer? I am a student journalist and I was planning to feature the art in the next issue of our student magazine here in the University. I really had a hard time fishing for accurate information regarding the history of the art. However, I managed to dig up some bits of scattered information but I think it wasn't enough. Can anyone here pls help me? I really needed information about the existence of the art especially before and during the spanish colonization period. I need names of the Spanish officials that banned the art. There was a book that my History teacher refered to me for sources of information but unfortunately, I cannot find it in the library. Any kind of help is greatly appreciated....Thanks!!!:D By the way, I'm a fellow FMA practitioner myself. I practice Mig-Sune-Do Escrima de San Miguel Style... ===== N.F.A 1140461-7 GEN.RED __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
