I've been around the inosanto-bustillo lineage for now 30 years and still train. I agree with Tom. When I lived in HB, Ca. I trained with Blaise inner circle. His art has evolved over the years but for a while we moved in similar circles. There is a jun fan jkd nucleus , multiple silats, FMA, and all the usual suspects but always with a heavy combat emphasis. I do not know the direction his art has taken since about 10 years ago but it doesn't matter. All I can tell you is that his personal skill is amazing as is his creativity in adapting fuctional aspects of an art for his own use. I have trained with and sparred many out of the Inosanto lineage and there are but a few who could match Blaise's ability. He is truely skilled. If anyone doubts me Blaise is still teaching down in huntington beach or there abouts. We still have mutual friends and I can find you a work address if you need one. Regards, Carlton H. Fung, D.D.S. Torrance, Ca. -----Original Message----- Subject: [Eskrima] Blaise Loong Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Dear Mr. Terry, It has come to my attention that there are some on your eskrima forum questioning the skills of Blaise Loong and his Yashai Warcraft system. I am writing you today to offer you and your subscribers the highest testimonial and recommendation for Blaise and Yashai Warcraft. --__--__-- Message: 2 From: Eagle556@aol.com Date: Sun, 29 Feb 2004 11:58:59 EST To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Subject: [Eskrima] Re: Blaise Loong Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net <<>> <<>> <<>> Hmm. I really didn't read the responses as personal attacks; rather questions on what had been written. For example I appreciated the responses and questions as to the terminology uses. Whenever someone submits a post utilizing various unknown terms and phrases I, like a lot of the readers, are always curious as to the origin and the meaning of the various terms or titles. Most of us are from different systems, styles, etc so what may be a common term or title in your system or style is totally unknown to the rest of us. It even gets more confusing to a simple minded person such as myself when you start utilizing Scandanavian terms on a Filipino Martial Arts Digest. So to those individuals that gave the various responses on the terminology from the Philippines, "Thank you. I truly appreciate any help or clarification in this area and the responses are always most appreciated." Of course the internet creates a lot of confusion even in a common language. For example in one post there was the quote, "I was with him during our stint in Special Forces..." Now to someone such as myself, a former SF NCO, this implies that you were in the U.S. Army Special Forces. So my first question to you would be, "What team(s) were you on?" Perhaps you meant to say during your time training some of the guys at 1st SFG(A). Or perhaps you and Mr. Loong have both served in SF and who knows our paths may have crossed at some point and time. Others would perhaps interpret this statement totally different than I. The posts often in of themselves create a lot of confusion as to the original intent and meaning of the poster. Some of the confusion would be avoided if the poster took the time to explain various terms they use in the post or perhaps try to minimize the usage of uncommon terms. I just received a snailmail from Bliase Loong w/several of his DVDs enclosed. What I found most refreshing was the following: "Enclosed for your perusal are a few of my 'visual notes' dvds. Please check them out when you have some time. Thanks. If you think my stuff may be beneficial to your readers, please let them know" "I'm just a guy -- not some Grandmaster, Master, Datu or Guru. Just one of the countless thousands of FMA practitioners who sincerely study and practice hard in the garages and backyards all over the world." ... ... Given my up-coming travel I won't be able to quickly review all the material Blaise sent, but I will do so asap and post what I see to the list. But I can already tell that it comes from a person not all that hung up on himself. Very refreshing... I write this with the personal knowledge that I have known the man for 29 years, have trained with and bled with him." As you know him so well I'll get to the original thread. My question was who (and where) was his specific training in the PI. My own personal view is anyone who can't spell even simple Filipino words hasn't spent too much time either in or studying the Art within the Philippines. "Typical weekend warriors always challenge the validity of the claims of the real warriors." AND real warriors shouldn't care. I don't see why you guys are so bent out of shape, it's not a challenge just a question. I'll repost it. ">I will just mention a few here... We should have those up on www.yashai.com >soon just FYI. >(1) Guro Ted Lucay Lucay (earlier - Blaise used to run his classes) >(2) Dan Inosanto (long time student and listed in the official JKD lineage >that came out in Black Belt mag some time ago) >(3) GM Edgar Sulite (personal privates) >(4) GM Leo Giron OK, these are the guys he trained with in the US. What about the specifics of the people he trained with in the PI. On his website he claims he learned Warrior Arts from the Southern Philippines, where exactly would that be? If its anywhere near General Santos or Davao I know these places quite well and would like to maybe look these people up." --__--__-- Message: 6 From: "Michael Koblic" To: "Eskrima digest" Cc: "Christine" Date: Sun, 29 Feb 2004 16:55:48 -0800 Subject: [Eskrima] Training in childbirth Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Art Gooch wrote: "My wife trained before, during, and after giving birth.
