I don't even recognize that word, Like I said in previous post Arnis, or Arnis de mano is what we go by. Maybe further north like Ilocos Norte or Abra or maybe in the Mountain Provinces. Call 785-213-1576, email hokkien@excite.com, or visit www.TopekaKarate.com for more information. In the evenings after training, I’ll probably show folks what good midwestern barbeque tastes like. Maybe we'll also check out some real Kansas City blues. The Heartland will never be the same! Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Hello Ray, Dr. Remy P. Presas is the son of the "Late Professor Remy A. Presas." MARPPIO is the name of Dr. Remy Jr. Organization referring to "Modern Arnis Remy P. Presas International Organization." His group include the Senior Masters of Modern Arnis residing in the Philippines as well as "Professor Remy A. Presas'" other children actively teaching Demitrio Presas who is a dynamic practitioner with a very refined sensitivity ability in lock flow and control tactics, and Mary Ann Presas who share a strong link to the original teaching of her father. Mary Ann is the eldest of the children and traveled S.E. Asia with Professor Presas demonstrating Modern Arnis prior to him moving to the U.S. Mary Ann was also featured in Professor' first book published in the Philippines. Remy Jr. stepped up in late 2001 after his father asked him to continue the family lineage and keep the Presas name alive in the Modern Arnis. From Grandfather, to Professor, to Remy Jr., the Presas name will and is continuing the Presas Heritage and the direct connection to the Philippines. I was with Remy Jr., Demitrio, Mary Ann, and Senior Master Rodillio Dagooc during their first public seminar in San Pablo early 2002. Wally Jay also joined in the instructional teachings which was a great treat to have him sharing and supporting the Presas children. >From that time forward, I have supported their efforts and sponsored seminar here in the Seattle-Tacoma Washington area, they are coming back June 26th and 27th and will be joined by Rodel Dagooc and Wilfredo Matias who is also one of Professor Remy' original students who currently resides in Clearwater Florida. Dr. Remy Jr. has sacrificed much in his efforts to continue the lineage yet has improved dramatically and dynamically over the last several years. He has spent much time training and educating himself in the concepts and techniques instructed by the Senior Masters of Modern Arnis in the Philippines. Recently, March 24th in Van Nuys at the House Of Champions, I shared the teaching floor with Remy Jr., Leo Fong, Ted Sotelo, and Dr. Wilfredo Matias, it was a excellent opportunity to train in a multiple art presentations. Dr. Remy Jr. had just returned from the Philippines and to be honest much of his energy, skill, and instructional methodology reminded me of his father. Remy Jr. has come along way and is committed to his task at hand! I salute his commitment and support his continued effort to keep the Presas "Direct Blood" Lineage alive. Hope that offers some insight as to who Dr. Remy Presas Jr. is,,, additionally if you would like to hear audio interviews from Professor Remy Presas and Dr. Remy Presas Jr. you can do just that at via my Radio Show archives accessible from my website at www,kellyworden.com Respectfully Kelly S. Remember that I mentioned I was traveling. Good seminar and small informal full contact tourny yesterday. About two dozen + fighters in our annual (almost) Cinco de Mayo / Mother's Day stick get-together. A few minor injuries, but lots of fun for all. Doubtless far more painful today... :) Ray Terry rterry@idiom.com --__--__-- _______________________________________________ Eskrima mailing list Eskrima@martialartsresource.net http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/eskrima http://eskrima-fma.net Old digest issues @ ftp://ftp.martialartsresource.com/pub/eskrima Copyright 1994-2004: Ray Terry, MartialArtsResource.com, Sudlud.com Standard disclaimers apply.
