I guess this is as far as we can take this discussion, unless someone familiar with that term speaks up. or with the other ones too. Oh well. To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Hi Jay, Thanks for the clarification. Like I said to Sonny, I guess this is as far as we can take this discussion, unless we hear from GM Nes Fernandez. I hope we do! :-) Or unless someone else on this list familiar with those terms speaks up too. BTW, I've run into people who say they practice a style called Kali de Leon. It appears to be founded by someone (or some people, not sure which) with the surname of de Leon. Are you by any chance related to them? Just curious. Remy Presas Jr. I know this because I have trained with him myself. Pretty nifty idea. Anyone else have further comments? I am very interested to see how average guys and gals make out. The pictures are all of young guy's doing exciting things. I am kind of young but I am banned from doign exciting things. My wife won't let me. :] Anyhoo, very interested to find out if anyone is doing this program, with what sort of frequency and what sort of results? Thanks Phil ===== Phil Hurcum .:Head Instructor:. Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Anyone out there in ED Land know where some inexpensive kettlebells can be found? Usually a little perusing on the internet locates a discount source for a given item, but I've been unable to find one for kettlebells. Heck, even eBay has been coming up dry. Any suggestions? By the way, great website and radio show! For those of you who have trained with the late Grandmaster Remy Presas but haven’t met Dr. Remy Presas Jr., I highly recommend doing so. Dr. Presas looks a lot like a younger version of his father. There are times when he says something that makes you stop and want to say, "Wow, that sounds just like your dad." More than the physical similarities, Dr. Presas has a lot to offer. In addition to countless advanced techniques, he is strict on having good form, proper techniques, strong blocks, paying attention to details, clean strikes, building a strong foundation, etc. His background in academia (the Dr. is from a Ph.D.) also allows him to present the material in a highly effective manner -great practitioner and great teacher! Was he able to train much under his dad? i.e. since Remy Sr. wasn't in the RP much the last half of his life, was Remy Jr. able to train under Remy Sr.? How long does the material last? Do you put clothing over whatever you are cutting? Do you use different material for folders as opposed to say a kris? Thanks in advance for any and all replies.
