So now I'm wondering if there're any other tuhons or guros in the states that he does recognize as teachers of PT? Can anyone give me a list or something? I don't care about the politics of what's going on in the PTI, I just interested in getting my yakan ranking out the way and start on my lakan rank. I' really appreciate an honest responses to this question thanks. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Friends. Fun. Try the all-new Yahoo! Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Hello, Maayong adlaw sa inyong tanan! A better way to start my introduction – means “Good day to everyone”. I recently subscribed to this forum because a friend of mine told me I could see and read some discussions about Eskrima/Arnis. A brief history of myself, I am from Cebu City, Philippines (38 yrs old) and studied Eskrima – Balintawak Style for over 18 years (I think) from my father (retired Philippine Army Colonel) and I have had few lessons also from a friend of mine in Hong Kong studying Wu Shu and Kenpo blending these Arts hoping to have better techniques supplementing Filipino Martial Arts. Few months ago I arrived here in Florida (St. Augustine) as an exchange IT professional for 2 years (only) and would like to know if there is/are school(s) here that teaches Balintawak, Wu Shu or Kenpo. If anybody knows I would appreciate the information. God bless you all and Thank you. _________________________________________________________________ Learn to simplify your finances and your life in Streamline Your Life from MSN Money. http://special.msn.com/money/0405streamline.armx --__--__-- Message: 4 From: "rob mulligan" To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Date: Tue, 25 May 2004 15:28:35 -0400 Subject: [Eskrima] Dwayne Howie & keys vs belt Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Re: Dwayne Howie & keys vs belt   I’ve never had any issues with my car ignitions, but I suppose it’s a possibility   The belt is obviously a potent weapon for whipping, bashing, trapping and strangling, I wouldn’t put my keys up against it, but the keys are out and flying in about a second, with no worries that you may flash a moon.   The other thing is, from that low draw position you can do an underhand (or overhand) throw at the face of your opponent while you unsheathe your belt / balisong / Boguszewski spike (my knife of choice)/ hammer / uzi / etc. Like I said though, it’s always there, and it’s legal. That was my main point.   Hopefully not dropping my drawers, Rob Mulligan / kwikstik.com                                 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Express yourself with the new version of MSN Messenger! You see I just finished getting my 3rd brown ranking in Doce Pares( GM Cacoy's system). I know full well that my rank would probably not be accepted by M Dioniso, thats ok with though because I waited a very long time to be accepted as one of his true students. I didn't knowabout the rift between GM Gaje and Tuhon Mcgrath until now. I've been taking distance learning courses(vids) and expect to be tested by Tuhon Mcgrath or one of his guros and thus receive his approval, thus receiving GM Gaje's respect as well. I don't want to walk in to a seminar of GM Gaje someday be laughed at or worse.Nor would I like to show that my skill level is below or equal to his other students and be asked where I learned my Pekiti and probably have a senior student kick my ass because of Tuhon Mcgrath and GM Gaje's falling out. I have been with PG for almost two years now and those who know him would also agree that he is one of the real deals out there. Also, just for clarification in regards to PG Myrlino Hufana and his system. PG is one of two that Professor Presas had given the title of Punong Guro outside of the Philippines. PG was one of Professor's closest friend and student. For ten years, PG received one on one tutelage from Professor himself. His system is called Hufana Traditional Arnis International (HTAI) which is a combination of Modern Arnis (40%), his family lineage (40%), and PG's interpretation of the combative arts (20%). I am clarifying this in case the gentleman (forgot his name) looking for a school in the Seattle area is looking for a specifc system. Hope this helps.
