I couldn't help but notice that you got some advice regarding Heavy sticks! I must've missed that. I just wanted to point out that we use heavy sticks also (hardwood) although we primarily practice Serrada, we're also in the beginning stages of learning the basics of Largo Mano. Also there are a few of our blocks and counters that are set up primarily for defense against a Largo (Spanish for: Long Hand) attack. Actually I've never even owned a rattan stick... I wonder how hard and fast I'd be? :) So I wonder how many of us start out using rattan? A worthy matter to ponder... Peace and Blessings, ~John Message: 11 From: "John Johnson" To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Subject:RE: [Eskrima] TrainingDate: Thu, 29 Jul 2004 16:10:20 -0400 Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Thank you Bobbe, Kim and Gordon. I will take your advice, it makes sense, to condition myself for Kali I will practice Kali, I like the Heavy sticks idea and I will take it slow to avoid injury. Thank you again. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? New and Improved Yahoo!
