Animal fighting Technique (fullofschist@juno.com) --__--__-- Message: 1 From: "fullofschist@juno.com" Date: Fri, 6 Aug 2004 06:00:40 GMT To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Subject: [Eskrima] Animal fighting Technique Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net To reply to Gints Klimanis' query on animal fighting, and techniques to be adapted from it: A for videos, I don't know which country you reside in, but on American cable TV there is a network called the Discovery Channel that runs many programs on wild animals, which often include fights. If you are not a US native, perhaps someone could videotape a few for you. As for adapting technique from the animal world, gong fu has many techniques derived form animals, including praying mantis, eagle claw, monkey, dragon, snake, tiger, leopard and crane. Perhaps they may have what you are looking for,or,if not, then by comparing their techniques with videos of the actual animals you can gain insight into how to extract the essence of the fight from any animal's technique. One thing I have learned from animals, is that if the fight gets really down & dirty, Bite! You'd be surprised how strong the jaw is and how much losing a good hunk of muscle will take the fight out of someone. My sister turned me onto biting. She grew up on the streets, so despite being only a (rock hard) 5-foot-five, she can kick some ass. She's got this move where she jumps on someone, simultaneously: crushing their testicles and windpipe, dropping them flat on their back(her leg hooking behind their knee), and biting a hunk out of their cheek on the way down. All in under 1/2 a second. Oh, and landing with her knee in their gut. She showed me this "gently" once, and it wasn't pleasant at all. The drawbacks to biting include the possibility of blood-borne disease, but if a fight gets to the bite point, it's usually not a major concern at the time. There is also the legal aspect. I know a fellow who did seven years in prison for biting a guy in the throat. (another animal lesson, go for the throat) It may have to do with the fact that the biter started the fight though. Then again, in a life or death situation, that’s not much of a concern either. ---Your friendly neighborhood Witchdoctor ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the Internet in years - Juno SpeedBand!
