I want to be able to see that reassuring orange that says "this is not a real gun". No matter how careful people are all it takes is one "oops" with a real gun, one magazine full of live ammunition, or one round in the chamber. --__--__-- Message: 4 From: Ray Terry To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net (Eskrima) Date: Fri, 17 Sep 2004 07:56:20 -0700 (PDT) Subject: [Eskrima] [The_Dojang] attn: grappling instructor needed Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Forwarding, an interesting clip... Greetings All, Thought I'd share this interesting clip. Just think of what your basic student could do in this type of situation. Although this is not a great example of conflict avoidance, it does show the reality of what skills they need to learn. http://www.supraspeed.com/bdrive/pages/grlfight.wmv Mark Gajdostik TNT-Martial Arts --__--__-- Message: 5 From: "Kevin Davis" To: Date: Fri, 17 Sep 2004 16:40:48 -0400 Subject: [Eskrima] Airsoft Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Ray asked: "I've been working on the firearms component of Sudlud Eskrima. Currently we're using Airsoft gas blowback (BB) pistols for force-on-force exercises. Anyone else doing this as part of their training?" Ray, Check out FFKGvideos.com or FFKG.com Rich Daniels a civilian firearms instructor who instructs at "A Place to Shoot" in Portland has developed some VERY interesting drills. Rich has five programs on DVD on the subject. ALL incorporate the FMA. Guro Chris Clarke contributes to the counter knife material. All DVD's feature drills that will make a lot of sense to any eskrimador. I just submitted an article to SWAT magazine on the use of Airsoft and it has amazing potential for firearms training. Tell Rich I sent you. Aghk! I guess it's a good thing that most of the world hasn't caught on to the basics yet. And I'm glad I don't have hair to pull, unless you can grab a handful of goatee... The show was only 30 mins long, but what I saw them teaching wasn't all that impressive. But then how much can you fit in a half-hour show...
