Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Greetings from the Filipino Martial Arts Club at Carnegie Mellon University! We are a new university-affiliated club dedicated to teaching the Filipino Martial Arts. Our instructors are: Michael Jordan, who is a Guro (certified instructor) in the bladed arts system of Cadena de Mano International; Joseph Florendo, who is a Tagasanay (trainer) in the system of Modern Arnis. We hold training sessions regularly throughout the school year at the University. These regular training sessions are held at the University every Tuesday and Friday from 4:30pm to 6:00pm. We welcome anybody with an open mind and a will to learn Filipino Martial Arts, regardless of prior martial arts experience. Through our efforts to promote the Filipino Martial Arts we hope to better ourselves as martial artists through exposure to different arts. We will be sponsoring a two-day seminar on Indonesian Poekalan Pentjak Silat and Kuntao Silat, taught by Steven Strobridge of the True Believer Martial Arts International. This seminar will be held on October 30 and 31 (Saturday and Sunday) from 1pm to 5pm. It will be held on the campus of Carnegie Mellon University in Skibo Gym, Activity Room A. Please refer to the attached flyer Flyer.ppt for more details, or call Joseph Florendo at 412 551 2161. Thank you! I am about to start a class in Charlotte, NC and I know that none of my students will have blades to work with. I am looking for something equating to the size of a basic folder with about a 3.5 to 4 inch blade. The best deal I can find is $15 for the Basic Chisel Tip on Edges2. Any help that you all can offer will be mucly appreciated. Peace, Matt Williams _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger! It allows the defender to meet the attack and creates some time for you whilst setting up a more powerful counter. I differ on my opinion of Bong Sau to you, whilst the application you mentioned is correct my opinion is that it is not a really strong technique - suppose we will have to differ on this one- The problem is that the elbow is no longer pointing to the floor so if the other person is faster ..... although when used it does open up an exponential number of possibilities. Also have you thought of bobbing under the strike like a boxer or moving backwards - What ever works is the way.
