In short (if >you will excuse the pun) instead of just doing it, I began to look into "why >it worked." As I read your post I could see myself going through the same experiences you describe. Then I got to the punchline(pun intended)! Yeah, it was Richard Dobson with whom I had the very same experience! Those experiences with Richard caused me to open up my perceptions and challenge my concepts. I am a vastly better fighter for it and can't thank him enough. He has caused me to no longer think of ranges but to fluidly move between them without intention. It is the very intention of what one is going to do("I'm fighting a big guy") that causes one to fail by not reacting to what is actually happening. M " Thanks for the input :) I'm always training my in-fighting/trapping; I think my weakness is my lack of faith (when it comes down to brass tacks) in my entrances and ability to fully control the "in-game" in full contact sparring. I'll keep that in mind when I train today. I will make a concentrated effort to control the in-fighting with only technique and see what happens. respects -Brian --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Check out the new Yahoo! Being small has advantages and disadvantages just as being large does. The trick is to learn how best to utilize our tools - to take advantage of their strengths while minimizing their weaknesses or even turning weaknesses to our advantage (i.e.: using them to bait people, etc.).
