One thing I especially liked are the old photos... but some of them are so small you can't see anything! Please include larger versions of them as well. The links in the weapons photos page don't work at all... All in all, quite good but needs further work. The Tortal family Family Tree would be interesting. Also, a question that someone will inevitably raise is the relation to Pekiti Tirsia and Grand Tuhon Gaje, so in my opinion it would be best to address the issue openly. -m > -----Original Message----- > From: ext Genfil Villahermosa [mailto:gqvillahermosa@yahoo.com] > Sent: 29 November, 2004 11:23 > To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net > Subject: [Eskrima] New Website for Dekiti Tirsia Siradas > > > Good day! > I would like to invite you all to visit our new > official website for Dekiti Tirsia Siradas. > URL is http://dekititirsiasiradas.org > Mabuhay! > > ===== > > > Click to join dekiti-tirsia-siradas > Please visit the Dekiti Tirsia Siradas Website > > > > > __________________________________ > Do you Yahoo!? > Take Yahoo! Ray =================================================================== There was a recent thread on RMA about shoulder injuries and the book "The 7 Minute Rotator Cuff Solution". On that recommendation I went ahead and ordered it from the Health for Life website. Other online reviews raved about it too, so it seemed like a good book to have. It turns out that the website is a front. While Health for Life is a real company -- I've used their "Legendary Abs" workout for over 15 years -- the actual website "Healthforlife.com" is a fake. Someone has set up a dummy website for acquiring credit card numbers. My card number was harvested, and within a week numerous fraudulent charges started showing up on my account. I didn't know about it until the credit card company's fraud alert dept. gave me a call the other day. Both phone numbers listed on the website are also not in service. Just thought I'd pass it on in. --__--__-- Message: 4 To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net From: Nick Papadakis Date: Tue, 30 Nov 2004 09:22:35 -0800 Subject: [Eskrima] Rotator cuff book Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net The Seven Minute Rotator Cuff Solution from "Health for Life" is out of print, last I heard. You can get a xeroxed copy at www.Valleymartialarts.com or call them at 818 769 7886 for more information . The publisher says they will replace xeroxed copies when the next publishing is in. That is the latest I have heard of the book. The book is the book to get on the subject. I don't find specs for it on the site, though mention is made that the blade is made of 440 steel. Can't find dimensions anywhere, or a decent pic of the blade. What I can see looks like a stamped, saber ground blade that looks similar to a lot of the $20 knives kicking around on the internet. I have a couple other, interrelated, gripes with the concept. First, it does too much advertising: the belt buckle pretty much screams "I'm a biker wannabe badass." Though that stuff flies in some circles, I don't think it make sense to do that kind of telegraphing. Second, I think it gives LEOs an excuse to eyeball you. Lotsa cops keep informed about these sorts of toys; wearing one gives 'em an excuse to give you a hard look. Finally, the whole fast draw thing is of limited utility and indeed misses the bigger picture. If you're in a potential combat situation and the other guy makes a swift move for his belt buckle, it's a safe bet something unpleasant is coming your way. Flip side is if I think things are getting dicey, it's a pretty good bet I have a blade open and concealed against my inner wrist. Maybe if the belt buckle guy squared off mano a mano he could get his blade open more quickly than mine, but I'm not going to play that game. I can see the threat I have to deal with, but he won't know about my knife until it bites. Bottom line if I find one cheap I'll buy it for my collection, but for every day carry the blade creates more problems than it cures.
