You behave in exactly the manner of a person who is trying to promote himself at the expense of others, right down to the personal attacks. Unfortunately, the awareness skills that you brag about seem to have failed you. You are not even paying enough attention to know which person you are addressing. > I do not claim, nor have I ever claimed: > a) to be an unbeatable fighter > b) to have all the answers > c) to be able to teach you how to be an unbeatable fighter Nor did I accuse you of such so I am unsure why you are bring these thing up. What I said was "You seem to be saying the everyone else is no good and the only safe thing to do is learn from you." And with the last paragraph of your message you confirm such. > > In fact, from the tone of your reply I suspect that all you did was go to the critique of "modern martial arts culture" section. If that is true then -- while the tone of your post is understandable -- you're ignoring the wealth of free information on personal safety and crime prevention in all the other areas. Wasn't your question about what else did you need to know about personal safety besides just one fighting style? I assure you that your mind reading skills are as sparse as your awareness skills in this case. I did in fact read through your whole site and found it to be, more than anything else a monument to your ego. > > Or did you just want to stick with a fantasy definitions that revolves around your deadly prowess to defeat slavering hordes of bad guys using your deadly martial art? Would these be my only two choices? To believe you, or to live in a fantasy world? I do not think so. > > I mean obviously if all you think that personal safety -- for both you and your family (which I seem to recall you asking about) -- I wonder, has anyone ever suggested that you talk too much? I mean really, eleven paragraphs of railing at that poor fellow who asked you about using Eskrima for self defense, I understand that you think martial arts are useless for learning self defense and that if people would only follow your advise, do what you tell them to do, and of course by your books and go to your seminars, that they would all be just fine. But eleven paragraphs seems a bit much. I merely find your stance on martial arts in general, and the Filipino martial arts in particular to be both demeaning and insulting. > > > Sorry that all that the free information provided on the No Nonsense Self-Defense page made you think I was trying to scam money from you. I wish you the absolute best of luck if you ever do meet someone in a dark and lonely place...'cause, quite frankly, you're going to need it. > And here we have it, the bottom line, you doing what you claim in the beginning of your message that you do not do. You talk about your free information (in just the same manner as the guy on the late night infomertial tells you what he is going to give you for free when you buy the useless contraption he is selling) then you tell me that I will not be able to cope with meeting someone in a "dark and lonely place" . Which as I said confirms my view that "You seem to be saying the everyone else is no good and the only safe thing to do is learn from you." If you ever decide to apply for work at a circus stay away from the mentalist tent, you are not very good at it. (I would recommend you check out the clowns) The truth is I grew up in one of the worst slums in Calcutta, and I doubt that there is much that that you could tell me about dangerous places. As I remember, you had your adventures that made you the bad ass expert you are today in what was it? Long Beach? I am sorry sir, but most of the people I grew up with would have sold a kidney to be able to live in the worst ghetto in southern California. At least people there have good drinking water and a sewage system. After reading your attack on the fellow who first asked you for information all I can say is that you leave me with the impression that you are a venial bully with delusions of grandeur, and that you are in fact selling something. Instead of watching "how" your opponant is throwing look instead at "what" is coming. Thus is Serada terms a lefty #1 is really like a righty #2 so just take it like a #2 and be done with it. Also remember in the early training the #'s are given as a reference point. No body fights with numbers it is all free form attacking what is open and countering what comes. Leftness and rightness is just a matter of training. If you are a righty it is difficult to catch a baseball in the right hand vs left. If you are a righty you write with your right. Is there any real difference in the skill? I do not think so. As a dentist I use my left for very fine meticulous work just as I do my right but for different types of meticulous work. The goal is to become ambidexterous in your MA training so I have to agree with Crafty 100% the siniwalli is the way to go. Regards, Carlton H. Fung, D.D.S.
