Mine recently quit after taking my initial two years in the art with him. I feel a sense of loss as the break was rather sudden for reasons akin of the need to find onesself and his losing his passion for teaching. When sharing the arts of life and death, you create a very strong bond to those who instruct you. Assuming you take it as seriously as I do. Although I have located a new instructor in a similar discipline of the FMA arts with far more experience than my former instructor, the sense of loss persists. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Especially how others might have dealt with this situation. Thank you for your time and attention. - Anthony __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? I guess this is mainly due to the difficulty of cutting square holes all the way through a log. If you can get the angle between the top 2 arms to about 45degrees that works fine. Good luck building. Let me know if you need any advice. Jon From: Buz Grover To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Subject: [Eskrima] Re: Training Dummies Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Anyone have directions for making a mook jong or training dummy? I had a big hickory come down in a storm; while I was taking the chainsaw to it I cut a couple mook jong sized pieces. I'm particularly interested in learning what the angles/spacing/size of the arms is supposed to be. Padilla street. Grandmaster Ciriaco "Noy Cacoy" Canete said Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmena will be the guest of honor during the induction on January 8. Also on the induction night, Canete said he will demonstrate some eskrima and eskrido techniques before invited guests, friends and eskrima practitioners. Canete said there are also groups of Americans, British and Japanese eskrimadors who will come on the induction day. Some of them will stay for the Sinulog and some will go on training under Noy Cacoy for about two weeks. Meanwhile, Cebu City councilor Silvan "Jack" Jakosalem has volunteered to help Canete in getting in touch with Physical Education instructors to take part in the free eskrima seminar next year. --__--__-- Message: 7 From: Ray Terry Subject: Re: [Eskrima] When Your Instructor Quits To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Date: Thu, 23 Dec 2004 15:03:36 -0800 (PST) Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net > Mine recently quit after taking my initial two years > in the art with him. From the sounds of it, he quit teaching for his own reasons that had nothing to do with you. I don't know if you're feeling guilty or just hurt or maybe abandoned? This will probably sound pretty blunt but, well, that's kinda how I'm wired. Whatever issues drove him to quit teaching are his issues. You feeling whatever you're feeling about it is your issue. I would say that you've done the only thing you can do - you've moved on. Maybe he'll come back to teaching at some point and you can start training with him again. Or maybe not. You'll most likely form a similar bond with your new instructor over time.
