Any truth to this? He also states that this particular system is one of the "rarest mother systems of eskrima", any idea what this refers to? thanks in advance Rob --__--__-- Message: 4 Date: Mon, 24 Jan 2005 15:44:53 -0800 (PST) From: Steve Kohn Subject: Re: [Eskrima] history help To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Sorry Ray! I must say again that the forums are awesome; since I have been receiving the emails I have worked a lot of the different concepts into my training that I would never have thought of. The art is becoming more and more practical and my decision on this art has turned out to be more and more questions. Thanks again all of you for sharing the knowledge and equally important your experience. Ummm... might I suggest taking a close, hard look at the meaning of the term "disparity of force" so you know when it is time to stop cuisinarting? It's been my experience that there exists a "scale of commitment" when it comes to multiple attackers. Not everyone is going to want to play. If the security cameras show you charging those retreating ...well, Lucy you have sum 'splaining to do. Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net It is with deep regret and sorrow to report the loss of one of our greatest and beloved martial arts masters, Dr. Moses Powell, who passed away Saturday, January 22, 2005. Dr. Powell, founder of the Sanuces Ryu Ju-Jitsu System will have a Going Home Celebration Memorial service tentatively in Palm Bay, Florida, Friday, January 28, 2005. Additional information on the location and time will be provided as soon as it becomes available. Master Veronica C. Walker is asking the martial arts community to show their support to the Powell family during their time of sorrow. The Martial Arts Foundation extends its sincere sympathy to Mrs. Powell and family - including the instructors and students of the Sanuces Ryu Ju-Jitsu System. Dr. Powell will be deeply missed! Unless they are retreating along your only exit path, which means you may have bad guys in front -and- in back of you. That is another good drill to toss out at the student. But I believe your real point is that knowing when to stop is important, and something that all good instructors should be teaching.
