The point being that once you have the knowledge no one can take it away from you. From a teaching point of view relative to society that is style dependant and varies from person to person. Some people need grades as a personal attainment and visual symbol to show others. Some styles do not have gradings. Whichever style you choose to do that's your choice and you choose it for your own reasons.
